Whatever one thinks of the offensiveness or non-offensiveness of the term "haole," Al himself is obviously a member of the group covered by that word. I'd also mention that practically every time Jim West does a slack key gig, he plays a "hapa haole" song or so, and uses that phrase to describe it.

You put it all real well Helen, I definitely agree with you.
Still, the big thing I hope is that maybe some people will catch the other meaning and at least know both sides to it. Look guys, Im really not offended, I just feel that after growing up in the islands and seeing the damage words can do sometimes - I've been called a haole before, my wife has beencl called a haole before, our parents have been too, and we were all born and raised four generations back. I know what Al meant. Just think things need the back story sometimes

Right.@alyankovic
Years ago my wife thought the prestigious literary award was the “Pulit Surprise”… ‘cause hey, it’d be a real surprise to win it, right?

Al's twitter videos of his adventures with tech support are becoming little mini movies, quite cenimatic.....
And it's awesome how they made a huge piece of art out of Suzannes fingerprint.

Re: The Weird Al Says Tweet! 2.0
Did you see the comment on the vid from somebody who works in tech support, who said that a coworker of his actually took a call from Al a couple of years ago?
Lots of people seem concerned that Al is trashing a working TV just for a joke, but I think it really was busted. And I'm willing to bet that finding someone to do a service call on a TV in extremely-rural Hawaii just wasn't cost effective.
