Sorry to add to the off topic-ness, but i just have to agree - Al looked great :D I don't care if he's over twice my age haha! Especially during wanna b ur lovr, and especially when he sang the end part to me - i had to hold onto the bar at the front for dear life!! I've never experienced being THAT starstruck before, ever...ahhh.... :)

I suppose it's not THAT off topic *wipes up drool*

Other randoms thoughts on the gig:
I notice that he has an even tackier suit for wanna b ur lovr than for the American tours. Gotta love the tiger stripes.

I think us Brits had a slight advantage of everything being new, as Al's videos aren't shown on TV (without doing a YouTube trawl), I personally hadn't seen the video clips before. On the other hand CNR? Who is he? I know that bolongna is a processed meat product, but that's about it, some stuff is rather lost on us. Jessica Simpson?

Oh, and I like the upgrade to the Academy, I haven't been in there for a few years, it certainly needed it!

Sorry, I seem to be unable to make any coherent posts at the moment *wipes away more drool*

He wore the tiger stripes for this years' American tour. I agree, it's even tackier, and makes the song all the more hilarious!

Yes, some pop culture references don't translate well abroad. Do an internet search on Charles Nelson Reilly (CNR) and be sure to watch some videos of him... you'll see why it is so hilarious to portray him as a "tough guy."

Jessica Simpson? You haven't missed much.

Dafty wrote:It's a shame this gig wasn't very well advertised, I know a number of people who would have wanted to go (although I'm not sure they would have paid the £25!) I only noticed at the end of November - as Al has never toured the UK before, I never thought to check!
It was odd to be sat down in a gig, I supposed that was so children could see - but I didn't see many kids.
I ventured out of snow bound Sheffield to see this gig and it was well worth it. I see from other posts that Al wasn't very well, but I couldn't tell.
I loved the "Polka Face" polka - I can see how Al couldn't resist doing that!
I'm gutted I forgot my camera as I was in the third row! Particularly as I didn't realise how much better looking Al is in the flesh as opposed to pictures *drools*
All the Weird Al gigs I've been to (8) have been all-seater except London. 2 and a half hours plus waiting/queuing time is a long time to stand.

And yes.. Al is an awesome looking guy.. but the best thing is that he is awesome quite apart from that, and one of the nicest people on the planet :) Someone actually worthy of admiration We all have great taste:)

I have been to many gigs in the Manchester Academy (it was great living within walking distance) and they have all been standing only, apart from Henry Rollins (spoken word). There's no way you can stand through 2 hours of that! Most gigs at smaller venues, in the UK, tend to be standing only - you can get more people in that way.
I entertained myself in the queue making ever smaller snowmen - They were all lined up like Russian dolls outside the door!

And we all have excellent taste, of course..

You were probably lined up the other side from me. I was at the left hand door, and was the first person in the building at the head of the VIP/FanClub queue

I was also on the left hand door picking up my tickets! If you were the first in, you would have missed my creations.
