A warm fuzzy feeling
Had a huge surprise today at work. At the end of every semester during dead week and finals week I pull out my Al CD's and play them on my bus. Normally no one know who Weird Al is so of course I must enlighten them. But today when I started the dead week ritual I had students in the bus rockin out and singing along knowing exactly who I had playing. Any way it was nice to be able to talk with the students and not be educating them on Weird Al because most of them already know who he is.

Yeah probably but who cares? It's nice to see the topic "warm fuzzy feeling"

Were you playing his latest CD? That's cool that they knew who he has. I think it speaks a lot to just how relevant he got with White and Nerdy's success. Al definitely deserved to have another top song that would get this segment of kids into Al.
Wish I had had you as my bus driver, we weren't allowed to listen to anything. Although, I'm not even sure we had a CD player on it. Although, I'd always kick out my personal and listen to Al on the way home.

Re: A warm fuzzy feeling
When I mention Weird Al to kids at my school, the response i usually get is somewhere along the lines of "Oh yeah he's cool....I really like Amish Paradise and White and Nerdy". And those are the only two songs they know of!! It's a shame that those are usually the only songs that kids are familiar with these days. There are many other songs that I like much more than those two. It's like how Queen is mostly popular for We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions. There are a plethora of songs by them that are WAY better than JUST those two.
But anyway, that's cool that you were able to experience that. I can understand how that would give you a warm fuzzy feeling.

At least they know those songs. Whenever I mention Al's music, I almost always get a response of "Who?" occaisionally punctuated with "oh. He's still around?"
