London HMV Forum - Show finish time

Post by williamsc47 »

Hi all,

I'm new here so, Hey! :) Great community you have here...hope to become a regular visitor

Now moving on to my question. I have booked tickets to see Al in London on the 6th of December at the HMV forum but am trying to find out what time the show will end? Does anybody know or have any ideas as to where I can find this information? I contacted the venue and they said that shows "generally" end at about 11pm, but I need something a bit more reliable than that if I can.

The reason I need to know is that myself and a friend are travelling from well outside London and want to return the same night, but public transport is looking like it could be an issue if the show ends any later than say 10.30pm

Anyway help is appreciated

Thanks, Craig

Welcome, Craig! I'm pretty sure the show lasts 2 hours, and that is just Weird Al's show, not including any opening act he may have. I don't know how common opening acts are in England, but I don't recall Al having any for this tour--others who were at more U.S. concerts than I can say for sure.

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

You might have a difficult time finding out an exact stop time, but I can tell you that Al's shows here in the US typically run about 2 hours and 15 minutes. If your showtime is around 8pm (a standard start time here), you will probably be OK. No guarantees of course, but this is just going by the typical experience here.

This also takes into account that Al's shows here usually don't have an opening act, meaning he takes the stage at (or very close to) 8pm, or whatever the scheduled start time is. If his UK shows have any sort of local opening act, that would obviously push the end time of the show back.

Hey,

Thanks for the helpful responses and welcomes :)

Support acts are fairly common in the UK but by no means guaranteed, plus there has been no mention of a support act on the tickets or the advertising, so hopefully that won't be a problem. If the the show is between 2 and 2 hrs 15 minutes I will hopefully be ok as the show is indeed scheduled to start at 8pm, I assume this includes any interval, or does he not have an interval?

Thanks again

Nope, it's a solid 2:15. No breaks with the exception of the video clips during quick costume changes.

Also, keep in mind that the concerts don't always start on time, so an 8:00 start time is ideally the earliest it will begin.

But also keep in mind, bearing unforeseen problems Al usually starts within 15 minutes (usually less in my experience) of the posted start time, so even if it's 815, you still have your 1030 window

Hi all,

Ok, this all sounds pretty hopeful then as long as there is no support act...will have to try and find this out for sure as well.

Thanks to you all for your help you have been fantastic :)

If I were you, I'd book a nearby hotel. That way, if Al decides he wants to meet his British fans, you have the luxury of wait time. If Al comes out, it's usually an hour or so after the show ends. This date is a lot more likely than his other concert date.

:welcome: Craig!!
I am sure you will have a great time at the concert, and I agree with what everyone has said above. Find out for sure about the opening band but otherwise you should definitely catch your public trans. However, I do agree with El: If you can stay in London for the night, it seems very likely that Al would do a meet n greet after the show.
You will have a great time no matter what you do, so be sure to let us know how it goes!

Hi again all,

Thanks for your continued input, it's much appreciated :)

I have heard that al is pretty good with coming out to meet people after the show and being a one off event I would think al would be eager to meet some of his UK fans so I guess it is fairly likely. It would be pretty cool to stay the night in London to have chance of meeting him, but I think we will have to wait and see if we can get a good price nearer the time as it can be quite expensive to stay in London and we are on a bit of a budget.

Can't wait to see the show though so if nothing else we have that to look forward to....still can't believe he is actually doing a UK date :D

Will deffo post again and let you all know how it goes :)
