Yeah, the cost of a ticket closer to the stage at the concert I went to was equal to what my brother paid for a lawn seat at a Dave Matthews concert. BTW, that is about $50.

EDIT 2: This topic is to discuss the prices of the tickets/merchandise. This topic isn't meant to be a measuring stick for everyone's fandom. If you like to tour chase, great. If you can't tour chase or don't want to, that's great also. You're not less of a fan because you don't tour chase. You're also not less of a fan if you DO tour chase. People spend their extra money in a way that pleases them or provides entertainment. If that means spending it on tour chasing, great. If you choose to spend your extra money making gifts, great. If you spend your extra money surfing WOWAY all day, also great. If you donate your extra money, great.

Money is a VERY touchy subject, especially during these times of recessions etc.

From now on in this topic please refrain from commenting on how others want to spend their money. Its none of our business how others decide to use their wealth. I would also say don't comment on how you spend your money, but its sort of difficult to talk about ticket prices without explaining why you feel that way. So, if you see something you don't agree with just bite your tongue, this topic isn't here to tell other's how to spend their money. It only gets ugly, and people get upset.

But more importantly I think it is crucial for a forum like this that no one attack or criticize the financial decisions made by various people on this board. If someone has the money to go to 27 Weird Al concerts in one summer, that's awesome and no one should be publicly questioning where they got the money to do it. If someone else is scraping by and is lucky to get to one show, no one else needs to make disparaging comments about how you only live once and people shouldn't be so stingy with their money. These sorts of comments ONLY lead to hurt feelings and do nothing to further the point you're trying to make. Some people on this forum will go to a lot of Weird Al concerts, others will go to few or none. Who cares why each person makes this decision. It's really neither here nor there to the question WWW is posing.

Yeah, seriously, I bought cheap seats to the Jeff Dunham show at PacAmp, and it was over double the cost of pit seats at the Al concert. Ugh. But, it was nearly sold out, so I guess people were willing to pay.

Sorry for being slightly off the current topic, but I got a back of venue ticket to see Journey (one of the best rock shows of all time) for less than $30. Same type of seat for Dave Matthews (one of the most overrated and repetitive acts of all time) was $50.

When we were walking into the venue I saw a sign that advertised Jeff Dunham on one date and Train on another date. I mentioned at the time that was the least desirable pairing imaginable.

Yep I still want to see Dave Matthews live at least once before I die. I can only afford to see him once though. As tickets are a ton! Understandably since each band member gets to travel on his OWN bus. The Dave Matthews Band tours with like 15 tour buses Have to pay for all those buses somehow!

Luckily I get to see Al more than once in my life because he doesn't charge a fortune.

You're not joking, either. I went to see Al at the Keswick Theater in June, spent around $50. Decent price ticket, good length show, decent seat. Spent close to $60 for DMB...and was incredibly far away from the stage. Got a good lawn seat, but for $60, I'd like to actually be sitting, and not standing in a crowd of 40,000 people for 4 hours. Especially when said 40,000 have been drinking and doing various other drugs...

Which is why, if Al tours in 2011, I'm definitely going again. Best concert I went to, and I'm not just saying that as a fan who thinks Al does no wrong. It was a fun show all around for the price you pay, and he signed autographs and all. Merchandise was fairly reasonable. DMB was a $60 ticket, and t-shirts were a MINIMUM of $30. I like Dave Matthews, but $30 is damned expensive for a SHIRT.

I got along well with the stoners. It was the drunks I didn't get along with. It was an overall pleasant experience, but well, security was nowhere to be found.

Yeah and those drunks were most likely college frat kids. I feel your pain. Luckily we don't have to deal with frat kids at Al's concerts
