What up with the camera? I know that there was someone from Als crew filming outside the Keswick. I wonder if Al is doing a tour documentary...

The concert was not being recorded.minnick27 wrote:What up with the camera? I know that there was someone from Als crew filming outside the Keswick. I wonder if Al is doing a tour documentary...
Meadowbrook US Cellular Pavilion has 2 large video screens on either side of the stage. During each concert, there is a guy with a video camera on the performing artist, following his/her every move. The video feeds directly to the video screens, so that people in the back of the venue can see everything.

Wow, huge pic, bryce87! You might wanna post a link, since there is a size limit here.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:
"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11
So awesome!

Re: 6/26/10 Gilford, NH Meadowbrook US Cellular Pavilion
My friends Andrew and Patrick along with myself and my longtime fellow tour chaser.....my mom...
set off midday from Cranston,RI to Gilford!
The Essentials kept us psyched and ready as time flew by. We got to the venue when parking was open and waited patiently for the gates to open. I heard Albuquerque playing from one car.
It was fun listening to fans talk while in line. Mom said to my friend's parent the next day that Al truly attracts many of different walks of life, ages, social values or personalities. Last night was no different.
Entered with slight dismay to discover that the radio station that was so enthusiastic about Al last time he was in Gilford was no where to be found. No radio blasting our boy's tunes, no spin the wheel where sometimes fans have to sing an Al song, nothing....the R2D2 that was provided by the 501st legion that year wasn't there either.
Spent a huge chunk of our time waiting for the show merely buying a t-shirt. I was very hesitant in making a deicison: Saga Begins...or Nirvana? Patrick bought the large pack of trading cards and a black Amish Paradise tee. Andy got a black Craigslist tee. I decided on a black Saga Begins shirt that I am wearing as of this moment. We had a quick laugh noticing that an attendee to our right in the other line was using a Sound Grenade from his iPod. Many lols were had.
Sitting down we had seats where a pillar blocked the middle of the center screen and a middle aged couple were happily cuddly during the show (aww) but it did block my mom's vision to see Al instead of a screen. We're easygoing about it knowing that we're happy to be in Al's presence and hear his voice but she didn't want to lean towards the gentleman to her right and obstruct HIS view.
If these two are reading this (somehow doubting such).....In all seriousness, this shouldn't be interpreted as an attack. You both seemed to have a fantastic time and that's all that matters
I reallly lucked out this tour knowing I'd only see Al at two venues this leg. He played both Good Old Days and Frank's which I did not see at the New Bedford show. Lucky, lucky, lucky me.
Especially knowing that I tweeted Frank's (and Trigger Happy) during setlist requests.
Drum solo= "alright we're about...halfway through the show" (two songs in, getting the congas ready)
Nirvana cheerleaders= solid routine.
You're Pitiful= wolves tee, not unicorns or free hugs.
Hog= Al refers to it as that song that he knows we all wanted to hear and that he'd be getting it out of the way.
Canadian Idiot= Yes, the flub. I loved seeing how he laughed it off. That was magical for me.!
OtaS= big screens helped me see that harmonica assistant was wearing an ALTV shirt.
Craigslist= made sure to record the Coffee Bean bit on my cell. "Soy Decaf Hazelnut Latte" was borrowed by my friends in a Haunted Labyrinth CYO fundraiser alot for the "pre-show" routine...when playing this "british film director more nasty than R.J Fletcher" I would demand soy decaf hazelnut lattes from my assistant "Bambi".....I know Bambi would be happy to hear that clip. personal storytime DONE, now back to the important stuff.
W&N= Patrick memorized the background vocals that Steve and Jim provide. made singing along that much more fun.
Amish Paradise= OK, it is with humble pleasure to write this hilarious moment that we (my group) all talked about on the ride back at one point. Now before I say this- I'm a guy so there was a huge difference between myself and this lady concertgoer but my group noticed two keythings....She was as enthusiastic as I was during my first tour in middle school (I'm now in college)...and clearly was a hardcore fan (screaming the Box at the exact same time as my friends and I, plus other little typical things)....what clinched it...what made this fan so darn memorable was that during "and I turned the other cheek" she gave out this high pitch Al Gal scream over the image of Al bending over....and we laughed incredibly hard despite the notion it was all too fast for her to not have pre-planned doing that.. Tourchasing leaves very few surprises for fans like me. It's the audience that makes things feel fresh at times. Kudos to you, kid. Kudos!
Fat= no soundeffects....mom noticed alongside me. We looked at eachother like "uhoh"....."at least it sounds more like the album"
Saga=joined the others in front of the stage. A cute white moth floated in front of Al for a moment as he was wrapping up the song. I loved Al and Jim's brief look of wonder at the moment.
Yoda= "ok you sing it"....She did so enthusiastically but in a remarkably different key.... "Well that was different" Al replies.
final moments....paper bits fell like snow and I couldn't help but give a manly light twirl amidst it.
Got $10 giftcards handed out to us as we left and noticed our boy's face is on the card.
and we believe one of Al's buses drove by us. What's the name of the company? The name will ring a bell if anyone knows.
oh and before I forget- there was a $5 or $10 raffle to win a guitar signed by everyone who performs at the venue this year. Anyone enter? Andy almost did but we forgot.

NNY273000, I don't know where you were sitting but there are no pillars under the pavillion. It is a clear span. This is one of the reasons it is a much better venue than Comcast in Mansfield Ma. Along with the fact that the parking lots only take about a half hour max to clear out, unless you are hanging around gabbing as we tend to do.
That was a good size moth Al was checking out.
Great show!

Re: 6/26/10 Gilford, NH Meadowbrook US Cellular Pavilion
There has been a professional photographer taking photos at several Meadowbrook shows this season, and he just posted some GREAT shots from the Weird Al concert on June 26th.
There are a lot of shots of WBUL, but none of the 2 times that he sang to me.
