Re: First ever European show from Weird Al confirmed
I remember reading in an 1996-ish Ask Al that Al would probably never perform in Europe.
Well, now he is! Cool!

Wow this is awesome news! Al with Godspeed You! Black Emporer!! What a lineup!!!
Also awesome news for British Al fans, of course. I'm sure this means there will be a few other shows late this year in Europe to coincide.

Yeah, I don't think Al would do a one-off performance in Europe and then leave, so perhaps a late-2010 European tour is in the works?
That's great news for those over there that have never had the opportunity to see him live! I hear Al's been pretty eager to tour over there the last few years, so I'm glad he could finally arrange it!

It's about time Al played in Europe. Granted, I've never had a stake for if he played there, but it's nice to hear it's happening for his fans across the pond.

Re: First ever European show from Weird Al confirmed
It's true that the only reason Al didn't tour Europe to promote Lynwood was because he wasn't able to line up enough dates to justify the cost of lugging all their equipment over there...but (and I don't mean to bring anyone's hopes down) if the venue is providing all their own equipment (and they likely are, it being a festival) then a single one-off show might actually be the most affordable, and thus, likely option for Al.Yeah, I don't think Al would do a one-off performance in Europe and then leave, so perhaps a late-2010 European tour is in the works?
Hey, anything that GETS him there.

And it could be a bare bones with no costume changes. I doubt it but it's possible

I like the vision the guy from the AV Club had of all the other bands clustered in the wings to catch Al's show. It's probably what will happen, too.

I've never heard of any of the other bands besides Godspeed You! Black Emperor (who totally rule), but I am guessing if they are anything like GYBE they've probably never seen Al live and would definitely be curious.
