[Tour with no name] Airports and hotels???

Post by WHiZZi »

Hi there,

As known by several people, I'm planning on visiting a Weird Al-concert in America. You also know that I'm from The Netherlands so I can't drive by car ;)

So, my question is:

What's the most cheap (to fly) and less travel concert for me to visit?

I need a place to sleep also. So,

- Where is the nearest airport to the concerts? You probably understand that I also need a way to transfer from the Airport to the concert / hotel. I will be 21 when the concerts start.

- The coolest thing would be to fly to America and visit 2 concerts, so is there a chance for visiting 2 (or more) concerts within a week?

- Hotel? Where and how much (I guess I need to visit a travel agency here to book one together with a flight)

- Car renting? How much and can this be done on the Airport (I am 21, I have a european drivers license and got a Credit Card :) )

mmm, seems like Milwaukee has it's own airport and also some hotels...

But, how far is it from Milwaukee to Peshawbestown, MI (by car??) ?

if so, maybe I can visit 2 concerts (or 3, if N. Tonowanda, NY is also nearby)

Hi Whizzi,

It might be better to wait a while before you start to plan your trip. There's still a LOT of room for additional concerts. If you're wanting to see more then one show, there will most likely be several dates where they do two shows on the same day (Hershey park on the last tour is a fine example of this) however, they have to cut the shows short so the vendors can sel more corn dogs so you won't se a complete show.

Like I said, hang on before you decide when to come over. I'm sure we can get you over here and to a show or 27 :)

Whizzi

I think you have to be 25 before you can rent a car here. But since you're well-known to us and you're coming from such a distance, I'm sure someone can help you out and take you to the shows you want to see.

Wait (like Harold said) for more tourdates to be announced. When the schedule is complete there are as many as 6 shows a week in a certain geographical area. I think focusing on the midwest is probably your best bet. Hotels costs less there.

I would guess that the airfares to major international airports would be cheaper, but you've got some time to check on that. And, WhiZZi, do consider those first two California concerts. Del Mar is less than a two-hour drive from Los Angeles, and Santa Clara is in the Bay Area, served by the San Francisco airport. And the scenery in between them (if you take the coast route) is excellent. Yes, you can rent a car in all the major airports and a lot of the minor ones. But considering all you've been doing here for Al fans, I suspect you'll find that living-room floors, complete with sleeping bags, and car pools will be available to you in many parts of the country. Including my part.

Sure, Milwaukee was fun last time. Thunderstorms, tornados, everybody else was CANCELED except Al, so anybody left at the 'fest crammed under the shelter of the freeway to see Al, who should have stayed in his warm dry trailer, but he loves us! :satisfied:

"You guys are crazy!"

He played for about an hour that night, but it was certainly an experience I'll never forget.

Whizzi, you should hold out for some shows around New York City. Then you can also take in the sights there and be on the Late Show with David Letterman, if you want. Al always does a bunch of shows in NY and NJ, so just wait a bit. Also, look for shows that are inside a theatre because they are usually the full length ones, and not short like the ones at fairs.

Hey Whizzi,

I will be at the concert in Michigan. New York is actually within like, 2-4 hours driving distance from Michigan. I might be able to find something for you. I have TONS of family out there. Maybe I will see you at the concert?

Wouldn't it be WAY MOBY if a bunch of us could manage to get to the concert(s) that Whizzi goes to. We could have a WOWAY party. That would polka.

We should play a game (ala the Smurfs) where we have "polka" in every sentence.

So guys, how the polka are you?

Well, I guess I take your advice and wait for a few more weeks for more concerts.

BTW, I printed a WOWAY-logo and put it on my T-shirt, so you all can recognize me ;)

I'll keep you up to date about when and where I will travel :onfire:
