Al at "UHF" showing in Austin, TX

Didn't really want to start a new topic for this because they called it a "possible maybe" but I didn't want anyone in the area to miss it if it turns out to be true, since Al usually doesn't announce this kind of stuff on his web page for some reason I never understood.

It appears Al may be at a showing of "UHF" at the Alamo Drafthouse in Ausin in the near future. Or it may just be somebody's really really confused. Lack of details kind of leads me to believe the latter, but it's mentioned here, so you guys can draw your own conclusions.

If anyone can confirms it's true or false, post here.

I know I have asked this somewhere before on this forum but I can't find it but is all these UHF showings some special re release thing that will go all over the place or is it just a specail thing that these places just happen to be doing

Yup. This is, as far as I can tell, a for real thing which started off by someone asking Al openly on Twitter if he would please come. I directed them to Al's management details, so I guess they went that route. As far as I can tell, it is a one off to celebrate the anniversary of that particular theater and a fundraiser to keep going. It's probably worth contacting the theater itself. I think its a small business or charity run thing so it may not advertise this much outside Austin

Not a re-release--for the most part in 2009 it was to celebrate "UHF"'s 20th anniversary, so this event might be more of the same, though now that it's 2010 it might just be that the theatre owner is a big fan of the movie.

Well, maybe all this newfound interest in UHF will inspire a blu-ray release! Al said that back when they mastered the film for the DVD, they made it HD-ready. So all the materials are at MGM's disposal.....
