Futurama DVD (was: Futurama tonight at 11PM EST)

Post by CatraDhtem »

Just in case anyone didn't know or didn't check the TV page at my Al site, the frozen Al is scheduled to appear on tonight's (2/24) episode of "Futurama" on Cartoon Network. It will air at 11PM EST.

I just wanted to reiterate that Cartoon Network's schedule is still listing the correct episode "The Cryonic Woman," despite what their "Tomorrow on Futurama..." bumpers showed last night (they were advertising the "Mother's Day" episode, which in fact aired last Monday).

So have your VCRs ready! The network's running the show in order, so it may be a while before this one airs again.

Of course, Al was only on a split second in this one. But there's another good reason for watching this episode [hopefully you taped it] --

Since "Futurama" is obviously another Matt Groening project like "The Simpsons", Al's caracature here MAY reflect how he MAY look on the upcoming Simpsons episode "Three Gays Of The Condo", airing hopefully sometime in April.

Then again, Al may not be playing himself ... but rather another character in the episode [ala Kelsey Grammar as Sideshow Bob]. It may be more like the Petroleum Joe character from "The Brak Show" -- just some very WEIRD guy .......

Whatcha think?

I would love to see another Petroleum Joe character, he was insanely funny.

According to imdb.com, Al will be playing "himself" on the upcoming episode of The Simpsons -- I just hope it's the current "himself."

Isn't it just tragic the way he keeps getting typecast? :nervous: And Nick and Mary Yankovic don't do much better-- almost all of their screen credits are as "Al's parents."

Almost all? <Scottidog heads over to imdb.com to check it out.>

Ah, I see. One credit each as "himself" and "herself". Odd though, that Nick is listed as Al's dad. Everyone knows that Frankie is Al's dad...

Wait, they're not listed as Amish Woman and Amish Man? Yikes!

Okay, that's remedied.... whew! :sigh:

And I was surprised to see that the Jay boys weren't listed either.... let's see if IMDB likes my suggestions to add them...

Pretty much if you've been submitting information there for a long time, they'll believe anything you say. :)

But that "Videos" listing on the IMDb sure is pretty hard to maintain. I think I was the one who got all of the director credits added.

I've been at it long enough that whatever I suggest makes it up pretty quickly. The only time they rejected my information was when I tried to submit myself.... :|

I didn't look at that real closely, as I figured by now it's probably pretty close to accurate. The one thing I've been meaning to do is check it with the info on "The Compleat Al" to make sure the info that needs to be repeated for both is there. For whatever reason they don't list Al's other video compilations, and I'm not sure if that's an oversight or intentional. I don't know enough about their guidelines to know how they decide to list music video compilations or not.

Al's entry seems to be pretty solid by now as well. I don't necessarily like or agree with the way IMDB lists certain things, but as long as the information they list is somewhere and accurate, I usually let it slide. The band member entry's are a little light, but at least what's there is now accurate, with two exceptions that I can see.

It took them a few months and many corrections on my part to finally get Bermuda's information seperated from that other Jon Schwartz producer's entry. They still have producer Jon's entry with drummer Jon's official website listed. :eh:

I'm also not sure Jim was ever on T.J. Hooker, or director of what appears to be a MST3K-quality movie, but I don't know that the other Jim West did those either, so I'd hate to change guitarist Jim's entry only to invalidate cinematographer Jim's entry. And since they ask you only to post stuff you know is true, I'll let someone more familiar with the truth clean those entries up.
