Al On Yo Gabba Gabba

Post by FredHuggins »

Yes, it appears to be happening. If this picture is to be believed and comprehended, Al will appear in that mutant apparition of shiny repetition, a TV show whose title has no human translation and can only be known as "Yo Gabba Gabba."

Even my keyboard gets chills just typing it.

Soon our pal AL will be dancing among the bright, unblinking alien-esque giant puppet thingies and their neverending songs that repeat one bloody line about manners and peace and whatever over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over until your brain can't take anymore and tries to tunnel its way out.

Upon viewing that photograph, I pretty much exactly resembled this kid, German and all.

Then I calmed down and started resembling Tom Kenny at 3:57 of this clip.

Then I took some calming medication, and now look.

In short, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn...that's alright because I like the way it hurts...

To unfortunately quote the homophobic Pat Robertson, "I completely concur."

If you don't want to see Al on this program, you don't have to tune in. I'm actually looking forward to this. I've always wondered how Nick programming has changed since they stopped airing classics such as Richard Scary, Gullah Gullah Island, etc.

I think I remember Al tweeting something about Nickelodeon with a similar Spongebob picture quite a few months ago...I'm honestly surprised I didn't see this coming...still, paint me heavily disappointed after going bcak and re-reading all the "epic Beatles Style parody speculation"...I prolly won't even watch it until someone has the guts to post an online clip somewhere because...hey, it's Al we're talking about here...I can't even remember if it's on Nick Jr. or Noggin, but since it's for preschoolers, it's bound to be on at some ungodly hour...and there is a very sick and disturbed part of me that secretly wishes that Al's appearance turns out to be such a baffling trainwreck that the hilarious Joel McHale somehow feels compelled to mnention it on The Soup...

BTW Fred, you always seem to ifnd the best clips of HBO sketch comedy on YouTube (Mr. Show, Kids in the Hall) Do you know wether or not the Mr. Show sketch where Bob Odenkirk plays "Daffy Mal" Yinkleyankle is available anywhere?

I have to see this. Yo Gabba Gabba is my second favorite show. Behind Little Bill, of course.
How old was that last signature? I mean, really?

This will be fun. I like Nickelodeon and Al getting in with them(first Barnyard and now this) is way cool.

Okay, okay, YGG isn't THAT bad. But the bits of it that my stoner friends have INSISTED on showing me ("It's awesome, dude! It's a bunch of bright colors and crazy puppets and s**t!") have annoyed the living piss out of me. It's one of those things where I can't bloody figure out WHY it's so popular - it's simultaneously convoluted and simplistic enough to REALLY test the mettle of any brain that hasn't been damaged by excessive drugs or excessive youth.

But, because it IS so popular, it's attracted more than a few celebrities, most of whom with kids they want to impress - Jack Black, Jack McBrayer, and now Al.

Oh well. I'm sure Nina will enjoy it, and that's really all that matters. I'm still gonna watch it because it's Al, but not before I heavily restrain myself - I can't afford to smash my TV and buy a new one.

I've looked all over the internets and alas, I can't find it. The closest I found was the audio, which can be heard at about 0:45 into this clip.

But if you really want to see it, it's available to rent or buy on DVD! It can be found on Disc 1 of the Season Four 2-disc set, in the episode "Rudy Will Await Your Foundation." Incidentally, the voice of Daffy Mal (actually voiced by Mr. Show musical director Eban Schletter) can also be heard coming out of a radio in the Mr. Show movie "Run Ronnie Run," also available on DVD.

Okay, to be perfectly honest...seeing that picture of Al with everyone at Yo Gabba Gabba, I was quite repulsed and wasn't really looking forward to this...but after watching this...I'm a little more excited, it looks like Jack Black had a lot of fun along with everyone else making the show, and this really looks like something that Al would gladly do. (Hopefully he'll be singing in this episode. ;) )

Needless to say, I'm a little more excited now and will give this episode with Al in it a chance when it airs on TV and will make an effort to go see it at whoever's house I can go to that has cable TV. :P (Hopefully they'll also give us behind-the-scenes clips with Al as they did with Jack Black.)
You can call me GEAH (GreenEggs&Ham) or Kat...I'll respond to either one.
