For the record, I totally DISAGREE with this as I said above. The fact that Al released these songs early is one of my favorite things about Al.Big Spoon @ September 07, 2009 12:31 pm wrote: I completely agree with Bobbi and Jon on this also. I hate the whole idea of Internet Leaks. There's nothing I love more than sitting down and listening to a new album straight through. Now I won't have that again for the next album.

Joe, I used to feel the same way that you do, but I actually love that Al released these five songs early. It's given each song its own chance to shine and it's really allowed me to appreciate each song on its own instead of as part of a whole set.
And besides, if listening to the whole album fresh is THAT important to you, you had the option to avoid the Internet Leaks.

I can understand wanting to hear an entire album of new material, but at least we still have quite a bit of it that will be brand new when the album comes out. I think it was an interesting experiment to release songs early, and it cut down on the waiting time to hear new material.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

The main thing to realize is that albums are going by the wayside and this generation of music is all about the downloadable single. Al was making the right move by releasing songs early. There's no way to avoid it, get used to it.

Wait. Where did Al say his album's new songs would only be the ones leaked to the internet? And it can't be The Essential, since he specifically said there would be no new songs on it.Big Spoon @ September 07, 2009 03:35 pm wrote: It's not that it's new. How old was that last signature? I mean, really?

Ok I am going to agree with Jace here.weirdojace @ September 08, 2009 08:16 pm wrote: The main thing to realize is that albums are going by the wayside and this generation of music is all about the downloadable single. Al made this summer very exciting for us by giving us one track per month I think, and we are still eager for more.
CDs ARE absolutely dying out and Al has responded to that in a dynamic and exciting way. His vision is proving to be longsighted and well judged.. He is the expert.
Internet Leaks is an affordable chunk of top notch music and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see other artists copying his example in this quick-change attention deficit age.
Better this style of EP than bunches of weak filler tracks cobbled together to make weight on long overdue and overpriced albums everyone got bored waiting for.. More Leaks please!
Worst things about Al? .. umm.. toughie.. cant really think of anything except that if he had pursued the British market a little more vigorously, I might have been a fan much longer ago and not a johnny-come-lately to all of this
