I dunno...just a pesky little thing called a hunch. Could be wrong.Weird Alan @ August 09, 2009 08:03 pm wrote: ...what? why?
I'm going with the "Fingertips" theory and you aren't. End of the day, it's probably going to be something that neither of us had thought of, so I'm not going to overthink it.
Heck, maybe it IS about Dr. Who.

Ok I know the one song is EYKIW, what's the half?Weird Alan @ August 09, 2009 10:48 pm wrote: I am extremely versed in all things tmbg, and I dont think Fingertips is something that Al would revisit. He's already done 1 1/2 songs that followed the Apollo 18 sound. I sincerely doubt this would be another one.
I wouldnt be surprised if it were a tmbg style parody, I just dont think it sounds like it.
GiF may sound like TMBG, but you have to remember that TMBG sounds like Zappa in much of their work. Especially Fingertips if listened to straight through.

You may remember the comparisons drawn from "I remember Larry" with tmbg's "see the constellation". If not, check it out.minnick27 @ August 10, 2009 01:54 pm wrote: Ok I know the one song is EYKIW, what's the half?

Maybe Im bitter having seen tmbg 16, going on 17 times, only to have heard them play that goddamn fingertips at almost every single show.
At any rate, since Al is in the business of constructing social commentary via comedic music, it would strike me odd that he would do what would essentialy be a fingertips parody. Fingertips is barely a song, and I imagine it would be a difficult sell to a mainstream audience.

um, yeah he has... remember Jerry Springer in 1999?Bruce the Duck @ August 09, 2009 08:41 am wrote:
It also slightly resembles Barenaked Ladies. Al hasn't done them in a style parody yet, despite being a fan and friends with the band. But that's probably not what this is.
