I dont... My curiosity levels about Jimmy Buffett are not exactlyhigh. I just wanted to know how I'd never heard of him.... and as he is a C&W artist I am no longer surprised

I'll let others weigh in on this, but I don't consider it country music. It's a rather unique sound, a blend of Carribbean influence, island music, folk, rock n roll, partying music, drinking/smoking, etc.

Maybe as a non-American you can't discern the difference, but Jimmy Buffett is definitely not country.

ETA: I did a Google search for what genre people consider Jimmy Buffett and one I liked was "Gulf and Western".
