I dont get why everyone wants to pigeonhole this as "an internet song" or " a list song" or whatever

Its a song. It rocks so we are already halfway there, it may be very funny, or maybe not.
I dont kind of expect Al to make a song about every different subject there is, hes not making an encyclopaedia.
So what if its about Food or TV or Internet? so what if it lists things? He has to write songs about stuff which a lot of people hold in common in order for people to be able to relate to it
What matter is if it entertains .. or not.

I'm betting it'll be a lot like eBay, actually. Talking about all the various things he's trying to get rid of or find on Craigslist.

This is exactly what I'm hoping it's not, but I do agree that's likely what the lyrics will be like.

Unfortunately that's what it probably will be, since it seems like list songs are all Al wants to do lately. :(

Instead of oh, a song about crawling around Craigslist and playing pranks/doing menacing things. Which is what I would do if I was writing it.

+1.

Also, I think that topic (or at least a song dedicated to the strange people that frequent the Personals section) is much more along the lines of what The Doors used to sing about -- the whole "People Are Strange" theme to a lot of their songs -- and he could do a good twist on their love ballads as well...

If we could return to the preview's lyrics. After listening over and over with the volume up, I am certain the end of the clip is "quick glance."

I can see that, but it could also be "quick laugh"

Well, I hope it is laugh. It feels less predictable. But I can hear a "guh" sound.
I'll ask a friend who's quite fond of sound and editing to pick the ending apart...assuming it'll do much. >.>

If anyone is looking to bone up on their Doors listening, the short 30 second clip we've heard reminds me a lot of "Light My Fire." I'm sure other songs will be mimicked, but I'd start there.

ETA: Other songs that will inevitably be referenced: "Riders On The Storm", "The End", "Love Me Two Times", "LA Woman", "Break On Through"...
