Nardwuar interviews T-Pain. At the 6:05 mark:

Nardwuar: What do you think about Weird Al covering you? I'm in love with the skipper.
T-Pain: Really? That's awesome. That is awesome. I mean, that is great to have Weird Al do a song and I get-- Makes me feel important enough to have Weird Al do a song.

Hee! Thank Nardwuar for tagging the video with the words Weird Al. I was just curious to see why. I don't think I would have watched that interview on my own free will otherwise :P

I can say with absolute certainty I would never watch a nine minute interview of T-Pain on my own free will. Unless he gave all of his responses through an auto-tune machine.

Just added another interesting nugget I somehow overlooked a few years ago from Chamillionaire:

"That parody was the reason I won the Grammy, because it made the record so big it was undeniable," he says. "It was so big overseas that people were telling me they had heard my version of Weird Al's song."

Don't forget James Blunt's manager saying that he and James would never approve a release of "You're Pitiful."
I'm ranking every Beatles song on my new pop culture blog. Check it out!

Which is odd because it was James who gave Al a go to do it in the first place.

Updated first post to include Brian May's response to Ringtone and Toni Basil's response to Ricky.
