Basic rule of instruction for small children: you don't want anything happening that's more interesting than the teacher.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

I remember in fifth grade, my teacher was teaching a science lesson ("Chlorophyll? More like Borophyll!") and a bird hit the window...and everyone was too busy trying to find out what had happened to the bird that the teacher got fed up and yelled at us.

Man, that was fun...but probably not for that bird.

Science last year was fun, sort of, because every time there was a mention of a pancreas, I started yelling "Pancreas! Pancreas!"

education is such an important part of a young person's life.

Education, yes. School, no. There's a VERY big difference.

Schools were developed to make children think alike and indoctrinate them into the unquestioning consumer culture, led by teachers who apparently don't know enough about the subjects they teach to pursue actual careers in them. Doesn't matter how many cutesy proms and colorful honor-roll bumper stickers you people come up with, if every single one of those brick monstrosities was bombed off the face of the earth, not much would change. The kids who want to learn, educate themselves, and succeed would learn, educate themselves and succeed regardless. And those who don't would work at 7-11, just like now. And nobody would be forced to attend repulsive pep rallies, or study algebra, or be sentenced to detention just for exercising their right to free speech.

Ask yourself this question: if school is so much better than Weird Al, how come you never hear about a shooting at a Weird Al concert?

Please don't respond with any of your precious little arguments. You won't change my mind on this one, and I'm sure I haven't changed yours either. But fair's fair - I'm just giving you MY crazy half-baked OT values in exchange for yours. Now accept the match and we'll move on.
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn...that's alright because I like the way it hurts...

Remind me in October to remind you guys to buy this book: Inventory: 16 Films Featuring Manic Pixie Dream Girls, 10 Great Songs Nearly Ruined by Saxophone, and 100 More Obsessively Specific Pop-Culture Lists and tell me what Al says.

Inventory also features an introduction by Chuck Klosterman and guest lists from Zach Galifianakis, Amy Sedaris, Patton Oswalt, Paul Thomas Anderson, "Weird Al" Yankovic and more.
