Uh, why? I get headaches all the time, so recording a song where there's a lot of yelling along with loud, driving music seems like something that could cause Al to get a headache.
Didn't you hear?
Al's metahuman physique allows him to become immune to headaches and all other forms of cosmic energy that can induce pain. This usually helps when he is fighting supervillains such as Galactus and the dastardly Dwayne.
Geez, you're the top poster and you didn't know that?
I would have liked to see a little about the process that went into making the animation clips. I mean, I know that he didn't do those himself but he probably did follow the production of them closely and it would have been nice to see how they evolved from story boards to actual cartoon clips.
I loved watching this though, and the part at the end where Nina is looking in on her dad working just melts my heart. So nice that he has a studio in him home so that he doesn't miss out on a lot of Nina's growing up!
I hope they do something similar to this for the next album, maybe even a seperate DVD to accompany the CD with longer segments in it. Like showing the whole process of concept to writing to recording to mixing the album. Al...hint...hint...
Also as an Al-gal I would like to say...OMG look at his hair! :9~
I like all animals...well except for monkeys, because they climb all over your face and slap you!
I don't think the SOL documentary was filmed at Al's home! And in any case, the time he spends in the recording studio wouldn't take a big bite out of his daddy-time in any case, even if they didn't bring Nina by to visit. They're very efficient, and get it done pretty quickly. Studio time is expensive.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.
Um, Al does indeed have a studio in his home, and may very well have been using it in the one clip where we see Nina looking in on him. Suzanne mentioned the in-home studio on Al's Biography special.
I always had the impression that the in-home studio was a smallish affair, used mostly for making demos for the band. The one Nina's peeking into looks pretty professional.

Perhaps you're right, Helen. I do remember Al saying he records demos in his in-home studio, so I guess that shot of Nina is from a more professional studio. Either way, it's a cute image.
Also Suzanne said that at night she was putting Nina to bed and they would listen to Al doing his demos. That means his studio is not soundproof. The studio he was in in the documentary was soundproofed.
