Sorry, I'm kind of late in jumping into this.

My high school is having a reunion next weekend (I'm not going) at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Irvine, about a mile down the 405 from John Wayne, on Von Karman. I know there's a shuttle service from the airport, it's still close to the Fair Grounds, and I know that they got a deal for the banquet hall, the banquet, and the rooms, etc.

Just thought I'd throw this out there because it worked for them and they have a group of over a hundred. I don't know if it would work for us though.
Sometimes, stuff happens.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone-much appreciated.

I'm continuing to figure out options for the venue (there are actually three of us handling that part, so keep throwing out ideas as they come to you, but don't go to a whole lot of time/effort, because it'll probably be duplicated. You have better ways to spend your time, I'm sure).

The topic will be stickied as soon as we have an official date and venue. That should be about another month, but meanwhile I just wanted everyone to have it on their calendar for next summer and to open up an informal discussion about it.

I've been to many events at the Crowne Plaza- it's a nice place. There's a large banquet room that could be pretty useful.

I'm currently saving up my frequent flyer miles to be there.

I actually kind of like Weirdstock.

Sounds kinda like a ripoff of Waynestock.
I like it, don't get me wrong.. but it's kind of unoriginal IMHO.

Waynestock? I don't know about that, but Weird sounds enough like Wood to make it a direct parody of Woodstock. I mean ___stock, ___con, ____fest, ____orama, etc have all been done to death as it is. Might as well have a decent pun while we're at it.

Weirdstock.
