I think we can expect a parody of the Eagles ("Busy Being Fabulous" does seem like a prime target... I'm so sick of hearing that on the radio), and definitely the way overplayed "All Summer Long." But on the other hand... why parody a song that's not original to begin with? I mean, not only did Kid Rock (Ryan Stiles' favorite 'band'!) sample "Sweet Home Alabama", he stole "Werewolves Of London"!
I dunno what else he would parody, I don't keep up with the crap that comes out nowadays.
Although, I wanna see him do a classic-style food song - he could turn Dolly Parton's recent "You Don't Know Love From Shinola" into, like, "You Don't Know Ham From Bologna."

Apparently, you've never heard "I Can't Watch This" or "Amish Paradise." Both are parodies of songs that heavily sample "Super Freak" and "Pastime Paradise" respectively. A parody of "All Summer Long" would be no different.
Do you think that the first of Al's forthcoming iTunes releases will be an original or parody?
Judging by tradition, Al generally records his six originals almost a year before recording his parodies, however because he is releasing these songs as he records them, I would guess this will be the first time ever that Al will record parodies before or alongside originals. Furthermore, I would also speculate that Al's iTunes releases will predominantly be parodies, or maybe a very close style parody of an established artist (like Germs or I'll Sue Ya, rather than Virus Alert or CNBC).
I'd be interested to hear others' thoughts on whether these iTunes songs will be parodies or originals, and what your guess is for timeframe of the first song to make its appearance.
I couldn't tell a dirt clod from a plate of caviar.

If Al does release songs ahead of the album I think, and hope, that they'll be all parodies. Originals won't attract attention like the parodies would, so it'd defeat the purpose to release them ahead of time.
Bruce is right, only the harcores (like us) would buy any origanals
maybe... just maybe volcano would pull somting sneaky like put a bonus song on the actual album realease, so people will have to buy both to get everything!
Without evil there can be no good, so it must be good to evil sometimes...
Eyeeeeee Satan!
I agree that any early releases are likely to be parodies. So do we also concur that he will delay recording any originals until much closer to the release date?

My guess would be Al told them not to do that when he had to negotiate this, and he'd make it a sticking point.
Then again, if he still holds back songs (Which we're guessing he would), it's a moot point anyway. We'd have to buy everything
You have quickly thought up such matchless phrase?
So, with the release of the single today, does that mean the new album should be expected soon, or is it just a 'sampler' to try out the iTunes?
I'd assume a new album is being worked on. He usually does a 3 year thing, right? '09 would be the reasonable assumption.
If so, any word on what else he'd be working on, parody wise? I'd assume Katy Perry, but I doubt it. I'd assume there'd be a Weezer thing somewhere, either parody or polka, but since they were in the last polka, he may not.
