This is cool - at Comic-Con last weekend, Patton Oswalt hosted the MST3K 20th Anniversary Reunion panel, and at one point they mentioned Al! They talked about the occasional director who'd approach them saying "When are you gonna do MY film?" and Patton compared it to musicians approaching Al asking for parodies of their own work.

The whole panel's up on YouTube if you're interested.
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn...that's alright because I like the way it hurts...

I'm curious as to whom these artists/musicians are.

I dont think anyone actually asked Al, I think it was more of a hypothetical situation.
Talking about music is like fishing about architecture- FZ

Besides Madonna, you mean?
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

Someone asked Al to do a parody of their work...but I can't remember who it was...it was at a party at the Playboy Mansion...
"Did you see Journey to the Center of the Earth?"
"I did!"
"Me neither...wait..."
"You had that planned didn't you?"
"..yeah.."

I don't know if it was at the Playboy Mansion, but the version of the story I've always heard was that it was Paul McCartney who asked.

Wow, really?

So, when Al wanted to do a parody of him, he turned it down.

Strange...

Maybe this?

Jack Ayer of Newnan Georgia asks: Al, in your December '99 questions someone named Fred Durst from L.A. California submitted a question. Was this THE Fred Durst, lead singer of Limp Bizkit?

I can't say for sure, but I highly doubt it. Actually, I DID meet Fred at one of the New Years Eve parties I went to. He was really nice, and said he was a fan. In fact, he started telling me what parodies I should do for "Nookie"! (I refrained from telling him that I write my own material, thank you!)

I Posted this in the interviews section, but it got lost in all the "Al's Brain" talk..lol

One of the netcasts I listen to, Net@Night with Leo Laporte & Amber MacArthur, interviewed JibJab yesterday, and the episode has been posted.

It is an awesome interview, they do talk about working with Al, and forgive Leo for saying Yankovic(h)... I tried to correct him (via his live IRC Chat) but it was too late.

Here's the link to the episode!
