To DVD, or not to DVD?

Is AL-TV returning or did you find a nice interview? Just tell the folks here.

That could be possible. After all, Bob went from a video clip during the Poodle Hat Tour, to a performed song during this tour.

I doubt very much that "Weasel Stomping Day" would be performed in concert, mainly because it's sung by a chorus of people and would seem strange with just Al singing it (with or without a background track) on stage. It's better left as a video clip.

If any original from SOL makes the next tour, I think it would most likely be "Don't Download This Song," with the often suggested replacement of "download" to "bootleg" in the chorus. That song is perfect for a concert performance.

Also, as far as that setlist posted above, there are loads of problems with it. One of the main ones being that most of his biggest hits are reserved for the tail end of the concert (SNL, AP, Fat, and now W&N). I really don't think he'd ever move those up in the set list and put lesser known songs like "Airline Amy" and "Do I Creep You Out" in their place. Also, the medleys have always been or parodies only. Not that it couldn't change, but it's highly unlikely.

Wouldn't Don't Download This Song have the same problem with the choir?

Such as "Touring With Scissors" having "The Night Santa Went Crazy.
"Poodle Hat Tour" having "Your Horoscope For Today".
And Straight Outta Lynwood having "Bob/Why Does This Always Happen To Me?".

Songs that the new fans know really well, but new-comers who've only heard the recent album of the time will be introduced to it.

Well, the "Ask Al" response where he commented on putting in "semi-obscure" songs into his concert was in response to a question about Melanie being included in the 1996-1997 tour. That obviously wasn't in the previous album.

Yeah, the semi-obscure songs from way in the past have included "Melanie" on the Bad Hair and Poodle Hat tours, "Twine" on the Bad Hair tour, "Dog Eat Dog" on the Poodle Hat tour, and "Dare To Be Stupid" on the Scissors tour (I know DTBS isn't as obscure as the others, but still, how many average fairgoers in '99-'00 appreciated the Devo references?)

I think "Albuquerque" has basically replaced the time Al used to devote to these sorts of songs - he moved "Saga" and "Yoda," but didn't drop them. And personally, I hope "Albuquerque" remains a concert mainstay, unless of course there's something on the next album that can top it as an encore.
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn...that's alright because I like the way it hurts...

I thought about that, but it really wouldn't be the same thing. "Weasel Stomping Day" has a chorus throughout and Al's voice isn't really much more prominent than the others. With "Download," most of it is JUST Al. The parts that have chorus, it's just in the background and never gets loud enough to overshadow Al. I think it could be done with Jim, Ruben, and Steven adding background vocals, or maybe just using a background track that wouldn't be distracting.

Besides, WSD relies heavily on the visual gag, and would really seem silly with Al onstage singing, without any weasel stomping visuals. Yeah, they could have the video playing while he's performing, but what's the point? IMO, a concert performance of WSD would be the equivalent to one of "Harvey the Wonder Hamster." Pointless.

I think Al should put up a poll on his website asking what songs we want him to do live next tour.

Hey guys, as much as I would love another LIVE DVD, Al recently did and interview with the Toledo Free Press and he talks about it. Here

But the main part of it is-
It has been nearly 10 years since Yankovic released a live DVD, “'Weird Al' Yankovic Live!,” but he said there are no plans to document the current tour for commercial release.

“If we were to do another live collection, it would still include many of the same hits as our previous one, and I hate being redundant,” Yankovic said. “I don't know if we really need to have another retail version of a live version of “Eat It” and “Smells Like Nirvana.” I just don't feel like it's necessary, for the same reason I've always gritted my teeth when my record company, my old record company, would force out a greatest hits compilation. Like, ‘Aw, really?!' You really need that?' ”

Damn. I was hoping we'd get one for this tour. Didn't Al even say in an interview a while ago that a handful of shows were filmed, and so there was a good chance of getting another live DVD?

That's what started the whole discussion, if I'm not mistaken.
