To DVD, or not to DVD?

Is AL-TV returning or did you find a nice interview? Just tell the folks here.

And if he cut it short, I wouldn't get to see him!!
"Did you see Journey to the Center of the Earth?"
"I did!"
"Me neither...wait..."
"You had that planned didn't you?"
"..yeah.."

I guess it's pointless to argue. It's HIS life, he gets to do what he wants. And he wants to keep touring!

It'll make album #13 all the sweeter when it DOES arrive.

Having said that, if he DOES make another live DVD I hope he shoots it at a better venue - like maybe the OC Fair or the Greek Theater in LA - someplace with a REALLY enthusiastic, appreciative crowd (I know they shot some Biography footage at the OC Fair last year, but I don't think they were recording it with decent sound).

I also hope, if he alternates songs next tour, that he does BOTH songs for the DVD (i.e. "Bob" AND "WDTAHTM"). And that he pulls out ALL the stops for "Albuquerque." And that he does whatever he can, rights-wise, to put a few big screen video clips on the DVD with audience reaction. And renegotiate with Atlantic Records, now that a couple years have passed, about including "You're Pitiful." Also, I'd like a pony for Christmas.

And those bottom four songs would be present regardless of whenever another "Live!" project is released.

EXACTLY!

Well, maybe next tour. As far as I'm concerned, "Pentiums" can be retired whenever - it's had its day. Fortunately, I don't think "Wanna B Ur Lovr" is going anywhere - it's replaced "One More Minute" as the Mandatory Audience Interaction song. Let's hope he changes the tour enough next album to release a DVD.

Yeah!! I could totally go for another Live DVD. Savanna and I are watching Live right now, but another one would give us something else for us to watch during our sad, pathetic lives. :D

And, to add to FredHuggins, Al wouldn't have any problems with I'm N Luv (Wit Da Skipper), since T-Pain already gave permission and it was Al who decided against it.

Whoops...I didn't notice that it was said already. My bad!

Well, this is the setlist, and I think enough songs have changed for another live DVD:

Fun Zone
Flipping Through Channels
Polkarama!
Canadian Idiot
Drum Solo
Close But No Cigar
Bob/ WDTAHTM

It's All About The Pentiums
You’re Pitiful
Wanna B Ur Lovr

Medley:
Couch Potato
Do I Creep You Out
I'm N Luv (Wit Da Skipper)
Confessions Pt. III
A Complicated Song
eBay

Bedrock Anthem
Ode To A Superhero
Pretty Fly For A Rabbi
Trapped In The Drive-Thru
Gump
Eat It

I'll Sue Ya
The Saga Begins
Yoda
Smells Like Nirvana
Amish Paradise
White & Nerdy
Fat
We All Have Cell Phones
Albuquerque

Almost all the songs are different, except Yoda, SLN, AP, Fat, and Saga Begins which will always be in there. And it seems like Al is more popular now because of W&N, so more people would buy it.

I definitely agree with that...and now that I think about it, Al would have a pretty good shot at having it be a bigger success than his last Live Dvd because of White and Nerdy. I don't know how many songs Al would intend to change before he felt it was "different" enough, but one thing we know about him, is that if it is within his power, he only wants to release quality items, and in his opinion, a quality Live DVD would have even more variance to his last one. :? even though I would love one right nowwwww

Well he wouldn't do one right nowwwww anyway, because it's been too long since "Straight Outta Lynwood" - Al, and his label, like to strike when the iron is RED HOT on these things (that's why they released "LIVE!" six months after "Running With Scissors," and "The Ultimate Video Collection" six months after "Poodle Hat.")

So, I'd say wait until six months after the next album - Christmastime 2009 or 2010, depending on how soon Al wants to get to work on it. For his next tour, he'll probably drop "Pentiums" and those three redundant songs in the medley that aren't "Eat It," and put out either a second LIVE! DVD, or an updated Video Collection. Or both...

...And hey, THIS just occurred to me: who's to say he couldn't shoot a concert DVD in HI-DEF? Now THAT'S an automatic upgrade to even the redundant songs! Blu-Ray will be FAR more prevalent in the marketplace by the time album #13 comes out. Why not release a Hi-Def concert on DVD AND Blu-Ray, with the videos for "White & Nerdy," "Do I Creep You Out," "Trapped In The Drive-Thru" and all the videos from album #13 as bonus features? It'd sell through the ROOF!
