Yeah, this is not a good show. It looks REALLY cheap - poor writing, animation that doesn't bother to match the lip sync, etc. Still, Al had a few good lines.

Okay, I wrote that after only seeing the first half. Second half was about ten times better.

I especially appreciated the fever pitch it reached, and how firmly the DTBS reference was planted in the story, rather than tossed off.

Hee hee, that was really cute!

LOVIN' Wreck-Gar, hope they bring him back!!! (I cried a little when I thought he died!)

I think they did a really good job making the character look like AL... I mean hes a giant walking trash heap, so obviously its not a perfect representation, but they caught his chin, lopsided smile and, (when he has it) goatee...

I also cried a little when he went evil... ;(

I'm kind of a wimp... :S

Do you suppose the "They really like me" line that grumpy ambulance dude said was an homage to TWAS???
Oh snap!

I doubt it, because that line is parodying an Oscar speech that someone did.

I'm not exactly sure of the specifics, but the line's been around for years before TWAS.

I actually enjoy the series as a whole... I stayed up to watch the hour long first episode on its first airing... And I've watched every episode since... But Al is like icing on the cake. Delicious icing with rainbow sprinkles... and chocolate chips... and... and... STUFF. :D

Sally Field accepted her Best Actress award in 1985:

"This means so much more to me this time, I don't know why. I think the first time I hardly felt it because it was all too new. But I want to say "Thank you" to you. I haven't had an orthodox career. And I've wanted more than anything to have your respect. The first time I didn't feel it. But this time I feel it. And I can't deny the fact that you like me . . . right now . . . you like me. Thank you.

Its one of those quotes that gets changed after years.

It was that they had, as a typical criminal in Detroit, a British person dressed as Robin Hood. WTH? They did say Detroit and not Sherwood Forest, right?
The "Angry Archer" character has been used before in at least one episode. The inside joke on the over-the-top character is that he's named after one of Hasbro's top toy designers, Aaron Archer. He acts a little embarrassed about it, but deep down, I'm sure he likes it.
