I did a topic just like this on that other forum I'm not supposed to mention and I thought it would get more attension here.
What if Al went on tour with the talented (yet insane) Michael Jackson in Europe in 1988 instead of shooting UHF? Al was offered to do so but turned it down to film UHF. If he did, this is what I think the set-list would look like.

It's suppose to show a transition in set-list style from the 80s to the present.
What would YOU want the set-list to look like?

That setlist is a bit long for an opening act. I don't know how much time Michael gives his opening acts, but Al gave his opening act 20 minutes. When Al opened for the Monkees I think he had about 45 minutes. I guess Al would stick to his more famous songs. Most likely he'd try to do as much as he could off of Even Worse, since it would have been the album he was promoting at the time. Also "Eat It" wouldn't be relegated to medley status.GuyWhoIsAnonymous @ Apr 8 2008, 09:35 PM wrote: What if Al went on tour with the talented (yet insane) Michael Jackson in Europe in 1988 instead of shooting UHF? Yes he was. For Jackson's Bad European tour. Al turned him down to film "UHF." I think it would have been awesome to see Al and Michael Jackson (in his prime) on the same stage together. Plus it would have given Al a ton of exposure in Europe.Driew_La_27 @ Apr 8 2008, 09:59 PM wrote: Wait Al was offered to open for MJ?!I never knew that...
Can you just imagine Al playing to those numbers!! If the tour had happened, Al might be more, or just as popular in Europe, as he is here. The trade-off, of course, is we probably wouldn't have had "UHF."Michael Jackson's tour wrote: The European leg of the tour was kicked off with 2 concerts at Flaminio Stadium, Rome. While performing in London, England Michael breaks a world record (as shown in the Guinness Book Of World Records) with 504,000 people attending 7 sold out shows at Wembley Stadium, more than any other artist.

Well, NOW I realize how strong-willed person Al is. Imagine that: you turn down a multi-selling artist to perform with him in a world-record show for shooting your own movie that is great but flops at the box office. Now what other artist do in this kinda situation? You guessed it - drink! (Which is the most light example here). Praise again for Al, he's really admirable to cope with all that stuff, not to give up and wait 13 years for when UHF is really, really famous.

Yanko Opening For Jacko: What Could Have Been
Personally, I think Al should've let UHF wait a little while and gone on tour with Michael Jackson. It would have been a much better career move, not that he would've known that, of course.
I want to start some speculation, how do you think the shows would've gone down? Would there have been US dates and how would they have gone?
Based on how the Monkees tour and future tours went, this is how I think a show on the 'Yanko Opening For Jacko' tour should've gone:

Your thoughts?
*- This is a tough one. "Melanie" ended up in the BHD and PH setlists, but "Good Old Days" was done during the Just For Laughs festival in '90.
