I think internet personalities (and comedy musicians) Rhett and Link would do good for comedic music.
For serious I would choose Stan Bush (The Touch and Dare from Transformers: The Movie), because hard core fans would know him from their copies of the album and he is really talented.
Who would you want?

No opening act= more time for Al to perform. Just sayin'.
Of course, I suppose they feel obliged to do SOMETHING at times, at outdoor venues while they wait for the sun to go down so we can see the video screen.

"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

The Melbourne SOL show had an opening act. I can't remember who she was, but if she was local, then whoever hired her really dropped the ball. Melbourne has heaps of more talented comedians. I bet Adam Hills would have done it for free.
The tsunami of immediacy will wash away the flood of grief, and reveal a layer of naive optimism underneath
