Is AL-TV returning or did you find a nice interview? Just tell the folks here.

Well, so much for asking Daryl to sign the petition.

You may have, ahem, tripped over the root of Mr. Hall's resentment.

I just went and compared current Amazon sales rankings of the most recent Hall & Oates and Daryl Hall solo efforts with Weird Al's last two albums.

Hall & Oates
Our Kind of Soul (October 26, 2004)
Amazon.com Sales Rank: #13,456 in Music

Daryl Hall solo:
Can't Stop Dreaming (June 10, 2003)
Amazon.com Sales Rank: #11,256 in Music

Straight Outta Lynwood (September 26, 2006)
Amazon.com Sales Rank: #3,338 in Music

Poodle Hat (May 20, 2003)
Amazon.com Sales Rank: #4,902 in Music

'Nuff said. :F
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

I'm confused though. Who is he comparing to Al?
He's comparing Flight of the Conchords to Al.

As for Hall himself, I'll give him some credit, as he's had some decent music or whatever. But he just popped it in the interview out of left field, like, "Al's bull, Conchords are intelligent."

Probably only saying that because they gave him a cameo on the show. But still.

Al is way more musical than them anyway, I don't see FotC layering up their songs with 50 different instruments...
From what I've read about their show, it seems like a rip off of Tenacious D.

Is it like that?

I love comedy music, but just looking at their pictures they don't look particularly funny. People said Dane Cook's hilarious, and he's tolerable, once in a while. The same people say these guys are funny, so I"m cautious.

Flight of the Conchords is a completely different style of humor from Al, or even Tenacious D. Their humor comes more from the awkwardness of the situations in their songs.

Maybe you'll like it, but I personally don't find them very funny.

I'm all about 'uncomfortable funny.' But those two guys just look odd. I doubt I'll ever actually watch their show. As for the cd's, I'd have to hear them before I go spend the money.

The D I love, personally.

I would say it's definitely some jealousy - like, how much success is Hall n Oats having now? whereas Al has one of the best gigs ever!! best band, best fans, still has great hair, great bod (no, I'm not going drooly on this one), great voice - like, of all those 80s stars it's Al who's having the success :)
I'm not comfortable in my comfort zone - it's poorly named.

I wouldn't call it jealousy or anything, just ignorance. The haters always argue that anyone can write a parody and that Al never writes his own music; he just changes the lyrics to other peoples' songs. Of course, it's not true, but the unfortunate thing is that Al is kind of an easy target in the music business because of that misconception.
I'm ranking every Beatles song on my new pop culture blog. Check it out!
