Oct 5 Adelaide concert reviews

Post by 3tion »

QUOTE I'd love to have a tour shirt with just the Aussie dates on it.

there were australian tour shirts at the adelaide performance, but when i got to the merch area all they had left was these in small... so i had to get another shirt, the orange one with al on it...

bit dissapointed, and angry, cos all the 10yr old kids were running around with XL shirts on... but i got al's signatrue so im happy

If someone could get me one of these tour shirts in a large size i would Be happy to pay for it and for shipping.

of course ill be extra happy if he comes back for another australian tour, that would be fantastic! 8)

You've been to a concert and haven't posted a review??? You do realize that we are all waiting with bated breath. Or if some had fish for dinner - baited breath.

Oh, just everything. As much of the setlist as you can remember (we're curious if he made any changes for Australia), a little bit about what kind of theater it is, was there an opening act, audience reaction, what did Al call Ruben, how did Al's voice sound, just anything memorable for you at all. And, hey, thanks!

3tion, Welcome Aboard!

QUOTE what would u like to know about the concert

Anything you care to mention about the concert. Really, you'll find there isn't anything too trivial for our group as long as it concerns our favorite Polka Meister and his band.

Didja happen to get any pictures?

Any special Aussie only merchandise?

And if you can't manage a full concert review, we'll settle for an adumbration.

Concert:

well prior to al comming on there was some comedian guy... not too bad... but not the reason i was there dammit!!

then intermission... yay, wot fun...

then finally al came on, first up was his angry white boy polka, verynice live. :)

then he introduced the band to each other. Jim to bermuda, steve to ruben.

then they went on from there. from what i have seen from the american tours it all seems to be the same with the same songs and all..... cant remember the line-up.

all i can say is, the concert was frickin awsome, however one thing that kinda ticked me off was the crowd and the seating. everyone sat for the whole thing, stiff and doing nothing... im sure there were a few singing along and moving but not very many. I know that me and my friend were singing along and enjoying it, we even managed to get the whole croud to stand and applaud Al at the end *gasp* i was amazed.

also, during Smells like nirvana, i think the cup came over my way, went down to pick up the cup... but to my dissapointment it was just some cup that had beer in it from some bogans in front of us =( (bogan = redneck)

After the show:

after the show, hung round and waited to see if i could see Al, and DID!! w00h00, he's a champ, so i managed to get him to sign one of his orange shirts with larger than human sized head on it. unfortuantely i would have prefered an australian PH tour shirt, but they had none left in my size *cries*

had a bit of a talk to him had some photos taken with him... unfortunately the batteries went flat in the camera and thus, had no flash... so the picks didnt turn out! DAMMIT!!! i really wanted them picks..... =(

Theatre:

the theatre probabbly wast the biggest, but it was good enough, unfortuantely they must have changed the seating after i had bought tickets because i was ment to be right in the centre with an isle in front of me... i thought that kinda sucked cos i ended up towards the left wall... but it was good enough for me, as long as i got to see Al!

Merch:

at the merch table they had 3 shirts i think... maybe 4, there was the orange one that u can find in the Al merch shop on his site, there was the couch potatoe shirt, and the australian PH tour shirt. then there was a cap and i think that was it....

Pictures:

http://www.gb-mod.net/v3ntion/private/weird%20al/

i included the ones that didnt turn out... very dissapointed bout that =(

If anyone could get me one of the Oz PH tour shirts in a large size i would be hugely greatful.

Hopefully Al will return in the future, because there is no way i would miss a concert of his!

and thats my write up, any questions, feel free to ask...

if i missed anything, ill put it up later

Seems identical to our tour list. I'm sorry your pics didn't turn out (especially the one with Al) but at least you can make them out. :) Also sorry that you had to suffer with a stoic crowd. I've been to those type of concerts myself.

Glad you had a polkariffic time though!

What a shame those pics didn't turn out. Still, you got to meet him! Yay!

Thanks for the review. I wouldn't be too hard on the Aussie audience for their lack of participation. They were probably just stunned by the awesomeness that is "Weird Al" Yankovic.
