Is AL-TV returning or did you find a nice interview? Just tell the folks here.

VH1 Goes Inside: Primetime Cartoons

Post by Dr_Dad »

Hey gang!! Got a new AL sighting for you!

I was watching VH1's "50 Greatest Funny Moments In Music" again this Thursday evening, and enjoying it immensely as usual. [BTW, didja notice that in that countdown, they talk about Jimmy Fallon doing parodies on the Video Music Awards and several people call him "brilliant" ... yet Al's been doing that same stuff for 20 years (and *better*!) and you're considered strange if you say Al's brilliant ... sheesh ...].

[Okay, exiting soapbox mode, now ...]

Anyhoo, the next show to come on was something called "VH1 Goes Inside: Primetime Cartoons", which apparently premiered today [i.e. Thursday, October 2nd]. I said, "Oh, cool!!", as I am a BIG fan of animation. And it was going to have a lot of my favorites ... Simpsons, Beavis & Butthead, Ren & Stimpy, Dexter's Lab, the Adult Swim lineup, and Space Ghost Coast To Coast!! So, I'm watching and digging it ... and the Space Ghost segment comes on at about 35 minutes into it. Tiny clips of SG:C2C are racing by, interspersed with various interviews. But I recognize some clips used as being from Al's "Banjo" episode!! Lines like "What have I unleashed!" and "a story about a little pellet who, with a little grit and a lot of sheer will, became a Sea Monkey"!! "Wow!" I thought, "I wonder if I should let the others know about this. I dunno though ... I mean, it's not like they're actually showing Al himself on thi ---"

:wow:

Next thing I know, there's AL on Space Ghost's monitor saying, "Thank you! I, I, uh, I can't tell you what a intense thrill it is to be on your show."!!

WooHOO!!! *NOW* I can tell you guys!! GO!! WATCH!!

If you missed it [and you probably did], here's a list of [possible] VH1 reairings of "VH1 Goes Inside: Primetime Cartoons":

Sunday, October 19, 2003 5/4c PM

Sunday, October 19, 2003 6/5c PM

[And of course, this list of airtimes is subject to change by any number of factors ... VH1 programming chimpanzees, sunspots, sudden gusts of wind, and the hideously eerie telekinetic powers of Pauly Shore ... you know the drill ...]

Fire up them VCR-thingys, kids!!

I managed to turn on vh1 just before the Space Ghost segment came on. I caught it before I even read this post, so when I saw Al, I immediatly got up and hugged my T.V. Once again, vh1 proves to be incredibly awesome.
