This is kinda mixed up, but here's a couple of things:

First, I did get to attend :yay: *ahem* Now that that's out of my system - hehe

*whispers* I think I saw Miss Nina off to the side of the stage--very sweet!

There was a great moment when a guy in the front row walked in late (during "It's All About The Pentiums"), and Al reached over and knocked the baseball cap off his head.

I loved that too!

Congrats on the meet and hug, weirdalisthephantomoftheopera! Glad you and your Pop enjoyed the concert!

Just got back. It was a great show. During SLN, after Al threw the water at the crowd, a woman in the front row got up, and threw a bunch of water back at Al, then sat down. A few seconds later she did it again, so security had to go and talk to her. I thought she was going to get kicked out, but they let her stay. I'll post more about the show tomorrow.

  well that was RUDE!!!

kaztaylor Posted on Oct 21 2007, 08:40 AM
I'm sure she wasn't trying to be rude. If she had water ready to throw, she knows he throws water during SLN...she was probably a fan who thought Al would find it funny to get splashed back...and he probably did, unless it was really a LOT of water, which would be uncool around all that expensive equipment. Anyone who was there want to comment on Al's reaction?

I'm not sure what it was...

I'll admit it, I laughed when she tossed the first one, but it wasn't funny when she did it again :stern: It was water...wasn't it? I don't think they were expecting any trouble and didn't react right away, but yay for security! And Al's stage guy looked ready to jump down there and protect! (Remember when Al used to have two water cups? One for drinking, one for throwing? Al wouldn't, but good thing there wasn't a second cup on stage, close enough for anyone in the front row to borrow to use on that lady... |) )

Al and The Band all looked great! They always seem so happy when their people and friends are there with them.

During the verbal struggle for the snorkel in Albuquerque, I thought I heard Al say he "tickled" his opponent's appendix - lol

Drum solo was a solo; on guitar Mary Had A Little Lamb

During WBUL, I turned sideways in my seat to watch the screen on the side; it showed Al in the audience and a glimpse of Judy Tenuta was shown. Having the camera showing Al going through the audience was very cool!

After the concert, I went to the merchandise booth to get a couple of things (one will be for one of the greats who didn't get to go with us to Perris and he also has a birthday, but next month). When I was walking back to chat with people, I saw Joel Miller and his lady walk by (was tempted, but didn't turn and gawk to get a better look - hehe)

I wanted to make sure to say hello to Kaffy and Jeannine, who traveled so far :w Julie, it was very nice to see you again! That is such a great pic you had of Al with you :) Christina, whew, I'm so happy you got a ticket from Vikki to attend! Cid and Kevin, delightful as always! Diva and her hunny bunny Greg, Melissa, and lots of others, plus some I didn't see :w

There were some musical chairs going on before and during the concert. I'll let others talk about some of that  And there was an empty chair next to me; the person who was supposed to sit there either never showed up or found a better place to sit

At some point a video camera was spotted peeking out next to the stage curtain, so I got a bit distracted from the concert and a little self-conscious, although I don't really think the camera was looking at anything except Al, but I stuck my tongue out and put up my hand to see if it changed direction any :P :S I know if I could, I'd tape all the shows :)

There's lots more, but my drive home caffeine is wearing off. Hope everyone arrived home/to their destinations safely!

yes, sadly. though there were a lot of donuts, but nothing extra special.

Although, I DID get to talk to Seth Green and get a snappy picture with him thanks to Diva!! :D

I'm going on 3 hours of sleep. So. I'm sitting in the airport waiting to go back home. Once I get home, i will make a full report of the show :)

Cinnamon, it was nice getting to chat with you, and thank you for what you did :D

I looked and didn't see, so I may as well ask, did we get bob or WDTAHTM last night?

This concert was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than O.C.!! I think he added some new songs to the medley, I couldn't take any pics of the concert because the freaking lady was like "I'm sorry, if you take any pictures of the concert we'll have to take away your camera". Ugh. I met Meli!!! And I think I saw BS. BS, do u have longish wavy/poofy hair? And glasses? Was Seth Green there?

I do. I think I saw you there too.

I have to get some work done right now, but I'll post a longer review tonight.

Taking everything into account from my strictly personal point of view, I'd have to say this was my best concert of the tour (although the night that Al sang to me in the third row at OC and my pastor saw it O-) , and being almost right up at the front fence during that high-energy Bamboozle set, and last week at Monterey, which had an excellent view even though I was off to the side, come close).

I was there with a couple of SCA friends; she's been a big fan but hasn't kept up lately, so I could sing along with her on some of the older stuff, and watch her reaction as she heard the SOL and concert-only stuff for the first time. Best of both worlds. And he's a musician with a sharp sense of humor himself, so he could understand the excellence of what Al & the guys were doing.

Embarrassing confession #1: it took until tonight, 12 concerts, before I finally realized why the clip of the snails in the opening montage always gets such a reaction. "Snail nookie!"

Al was sounding really good (so were the guys), and I was happy to get to hear WDTAHTM again, especially sitting next to someone who's never heard it before. Al's singing was so poignant and soulful, and of course the melody is beautiful... when he got to the Simpsons line the payoff on the joke was tremendous.

I was glad security had that little talk with the liquid-throwing lady (she wasn't anywhere near the section where Al tossed his Nirvana cup). Throwing stuff at the band is not cool. We want them uninjured and able to do this for some time to come.

The best moment came during WBUL. I'd had some hopes as soon as I realized I had the aisle seat on a center aisle in row A (the first row behind the orchestra section) But I never would have expected what happened. Al came right up and put the calf of his left leg on my shoulder while asking if I believed in love at first sight. :inlove: So of course I nodded yes. :yay: I'm so glad that I met the minimum requirements to be part of that bit of stage business: conveniently seated and someone Al could be reasonably sure wouldn't, like grab his leg and hold on!

We left that concert very, very slowly, as security gradually herded us out. We took a bunch of group photos (including one Diva took of four or five of us putting a foot into a circle to show off our fancy concert-going Vans) We stood outside and chatted until Meli and her dad came out, heard their report, and then waited some more. By the way, I would like to nominate the Greek Theatre security people for the trophy for Most Creative Lie To Clear Fans Out Of The Venue That I've Heard This Whole Tour. I refer, of course, to their invention of the underground tunnel supposedly used by artists departing from the venue (a venue surrounded by open fields and parking lots in pretty much every direction, so where does this mysterious tunnel end up?) They also told us that Weird Al wouldn't be coming out by that back gate, which we figured was true, and later that he was already gone, which we knew wasn't true, because we could still hear him laughing at the aftershow party. We waited a really long time, but we were hangin' with friends we may not see for a while again, and those W&N hoodies are warm. We chatted with the unshelled Storm Troopers and Mr. Vader himself as they passed by, and some of us got a photo op with Yoda under the trees. Then we waited some more. Finally we saw Al and Suzanne drive past on their way home, so we waved. One always hopes to meet Al, of course, and it's always a bit disappointing when one doesn't, but I don't think there was anybody among our little group of late-night diehards who hadn't already met Al at least once and sometimes more often (and after all, I just talked to him last week) so by any reckoning we were already a lucky, lucky bunch of fans, and we knew it. At the very end, we caught sight of Steve and had a chance to talk with him for a bit, and say hello again to his wife and sons, and to greet Jim. Embarrassment #2: Jim came over to the rather bumpy, irregular embankment/curb sort of thing where I was standing, and I lost my footing trying to step down and sort of fell into his arms. :S Really, Jim, I didn't want to crush your lei! But meeting up with Steve and Jim let me satisfy what I realized was my deepest end-of-tour wish: just to say "Thank you!" to somebody. I had a wonderful time chasing the SOL tour around this year.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

Wow, OE! Al had his calf on your shoulder? Awesome! I'm glad you had a good time, and got to talk to Jim and Steve, and Steve's wife. His sons were there, too? That's great! It's sweet that you at least got to wave to Al and family as they drove away. I hope Al and the guys enjoy their time off, perhaps until the next leg of the tour. *crosses fingers*
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!
