That is so cool, Maria! Most impressive that you had C3PO and R2D2! I can't wait to see more pics!
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

Looks hilarious! Nice job on the C3PO costume! And he (she?) even looks all stiff and stuff like C3PO. Was R2 remote controlled? Did it actually dance or just sit there?

And I was like, who's that guy with the long blak hair playing keyboards?

Yep, R2D2 was remote controlled and could wheel around and spin its head, too. Also, it's not a trick of the lights, the whole thing is actually purple. I got some pics of Al with it after the show, signing the inside of its head.

YEs, C#3PO was all stiff. He did an excellent job!! He was really fun to watch!

at the end of Saga, Al was helping push R2 off the stage, or more or less directing him where to go. Was cute.

:D

This show was so much fun. It was nice to meet catanddogdoctor and sit by to kaffy. The R2D2 and C3PO were a hilarious addition to the saga begins. As well as the starting Albuquerque over 3 times AND the fact that he sang the first couple of minutes of Albuquerque in the audience.

Last night Max, our 8 month old son, got to see his very first Weird Al concert. Now normally taking an infant to an Al show is probably not the best idea because of all the flashing lights and VERY loud music, but we were well prepared. My wife had the foresight to purchase one of these Peltor Kids Earphones long ago and they worked beautifully at protecting Max's ears. Second, we were fully willing to sit out in the lobby should the experience be too much for him, and if things get really bad, head home.

The outcome? Max got to enjoy the first half the show. He was even laughing while watching Al sing "It's All About the Pentiums". After a while, he got a little sweaty from wearing the headphones and needed a changing. So we took turns listening in from the lobby on a comfy couch while Max cheerfully played with the assorted toys we brought. We did bring Max, happy and refreshed, back inside for Al's final song of the night and then took him into the meet 'n greet after the show. Max got to see Al, Steve Jay (bassist), and Bermuda (drummer). I have some very cute pics of Al interacting with Max, which will be posted in a few days.

All in all, we couldn't be happier. Everything went as well as expected, and Max got to meet the man who, well, is indirectly responsible for his existence. heh.

Oh, and Fred, thank you very much for lending me your tripod. A lot more of my pictures were clearer because of that.

Awww, that's great you got to bring him to a concert! And, I think those earphones are the same kind I saw Nina wearing at the OC Fair! Wow, what a story that will make for his elementary school days (and beyond!).

huh, Al didn't mention anything about that when we showed it to him. But I think he was captivated by Max's cuteness at the time. hee hee.
