I, too, was very disappointed in the venue. I mean the security people were VERY rude. Before and after the show they kept trying to persuade people to come back there for different shows they had scheduled... you'd think if they were that desperate for people to come there more often they'd make sure everyone had a pleasant experience there... they just got on my nerves.
And $12.05 is WAY too much for a hamburger (with nothing on it), fries, and a drink.

But despite the venue Al and the band were fantastic as usual. Man, at times I was so happy I thought I was going to burst. Of course that's nothing unusual when I get to look at Al! I was sad at the lack of WBUL, but I know it was only because that stage was 9 feet high.

Those pelvic thrusts during "In love with the Skipper" more than made up for that though.

All in all it was a fantastic show... I don't see me ever going back to that venue though.

I also tried to see Al down by the buses, but was unsuccessful. We even hung out by the people with the passes for a while hoping they'd take pity on us and let us in. We finally gave up hope on that and tried to go back to the buses, only to be shooed away again (of course). Then we heard some people talking who got backstage to meet Al without passes... apparently they were just very persistant. >:S
I was persistant as well... just apparently not in the right location, lol.
We hung out there until we saw the bus leave though. :(W

Hopefully I'll get to meet him on August 18th... that'll be my last show this summer. It's been wonderful though.

Also... It was nice to meet you weirdojace. And your whole crew, I can't remember the names. But to the Al-Team girl... it was nice to meet you too.

I'll post pictures when I can!

Yeah, I wish I had been more persistent. Where were the backstage pass people meeting? They ushered me out of the place as soon as the show was over. I went down the hill by the bus, and like the rest wasn't allowed to even stand way outside the bus. The guy wouldn't even let me go back up the hill to my car. I had to wait forever to be able to meet and get back in the van. That guy was crazy.

They did seem to be begging to have people come to their shows. I had gotten there the previous night and John Kay and Steppenwolf were performing. The place wasn't even a quarter of the full. And Al packed the place. The guy didn't even wait for Al to get off the stage at the end to try to plug other shows.

Thanks, it was cool to see you too!

The Al-Team girl was TheMagic#27... she'll probably end up posting here soon. Her family is actually still down there, I had to leave early.

I was kinda disappointed in the show,I mean Al done a great job with what he had to work with there.I dont recommend AB and i will never go back there. He did not sing WBUL becauce the stage was way to high our necks hurt from looking straight up for 2 hours. and the ppl that stood in front of me to take pics I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR BLOCKING MY VEIW,i missed half the show. security & staff was totally rude and not helpful to us. there was a lot of ppl complaining during and after the show about the staff and security so i say a lot of ppl wont ever go back there. and when they were telling us that we could trade our tickets in to get $5 dollars off any other show this summer, i laughed my butt off. Weird Al was worth it but not anyone else. does anyone know why it started late?
gotta love Al

My best guess was that they were having some video server issues again. It seemed that Chris had a little trouble having it come on to start with, and it appeared that they had to revert back to beginning of the tour clips. Although, it did have minor changes.

That would be my best guess..not saying that's what happened for sure, though. It might have been the bandstand people, wouldn't surprise me. It took them until 7:30 to let Al play his pre-show set of music.

According to an article on the "Mountain Press" web site, the Bandstand complex will be remodeling and won't have concerts there until 2009 (at least they hope).

I bring it up because the article also recaps the venue's past concert season....

Rock bands like Grand Funk, the Doobie Brothers and Beach Boys drew well...but the No. 1 draw was Weird Al Yankovic
