Wow Slappy, How cool is that? You actually got to interview Al!! How long have you worked at that radio station? I worked at the local station here eons ago and I never got to do anything like that. I was on the air for about 6 hours every Saturday night. I had Board OP. duties to carry out during the rest of the week. I loved it when I got to hear 14 hours of golf in one day. All I had to do was make sure it stayed on the air. SNORE!!!! At least my 6 hour late night shift was on the FM side. I do like you avatar by the way. I'm gonna have to try that and see how it turns out! LOL

Golf on the radio??? Are you serious? That gets my vote for the most boring radio broadcast in the history of the world. Wow, and I thought watching golf on TV was boring....
Oh, and can we keep the running commentary on the changing avatars in the Whose avatar do you like ? topic please? Thanks.

when did you find out you were going to interview the Great Weird One? How did it come about??
I just wanna hear the story..and you know I love...
Details! Details, details, details!!
ooh... well it's a funny story, becasue I work at the radio station in our promotions department. And one day I get this message from a concert promoter asking if we want to help promote the Weird Al show. So I forwarded it to my supervisor with a tag that says, "Hey, we did this show a few years ago, it worked out pretty well for us, I think we should do it again."
So come to find out Al needs an opening act and my supervisor suggests me since I'm a stand-up comedian. They say okay, so the morning show tries to get us both on as guests the same day to promote the show. But Al didn't do any pre-show radio interviews (I'm not sure why, but mine is not to question the great Al) So they work out a compromise that I can interview Al before the show and we can play it back Monday on the morning show (which kinda sucked becasue, by then it was too late for folks to by tickets but then again who cares? 'casue I got to talk to Al!)
So I did the interview, we exchanged a couple laughs, then we wished each other good luck on the evenings performance and I went out and did perhaps the best set of my life shortly before watching the greatest concert I've been to in recent (or distant) memory. I raced back to the station to edit the interview for playback the next day....a process that kept me up until 4am...and then I had to be on the air at 5am.
A long but eventful day in the life of Slappy. But well worth it for the chance for the student to meet the master!
