Someone asked that when we were in line to meet Al.

The security guard (the jerk one) was like "You need to be in his fan club and talk to him online, and then they'll give you a pass."

And I was just like "That is complete and utter crap."

The security guard who was sitting right in front of me during the show was nice, though... He gave me an Al buck. :D

Lucky. ): I was sitting right in the center, but the wind was blowing the wrong way so I didn't get to catch any.

Yeah, I was sitting dead-center, too... So that was the only one I got. I was section BB, row 2, seat 1; how about you?

Section BB, row 9, seat 10. Aisle seats win. <3

Yeah, I loved my seat, and not only because it was close, but because it was an aisle seat.

Al was walking literally less than a foot away from me during WBUL, which I got an amazing picture of.

I also got a picture of him pointing right at my camera during "Pentiums."

Yeah, right.

That's just shuffling off the job of doling out letdowns onto poor Bermuda (in his weirdal.com webmaster's hat).

So where are all these people who are talking to Al online, anyway? :?
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

Here's my full review of last night's show (it's a bit long):

Wow. It was awesome. And the pictures are uploading as I type this.

I got to the venue a little before 5:00, and the gates opened at 5:00. So I hung around for a bit.

At 5:00, I went in to the theatre, and my parents went to the pre-show barbecue. I hung around the theatre until the show started... I got about 20 (yeah, only 20 :() signatures for my "Make the Rock Hall Weird" petition, but I met a lot of nice people there. One lady told me she had been a fan for twenty years, so I thought that was pretty cool.

Then I bought a few shirts and a hat, and just... waited around until the show started. At one point, Steve Jay walked about two feet away from me... I was gonna ask for an autograph, but he was talking to someone. At about 6:30 or so, I went to my seat. I had an incredible seat - second row, dead center. Anyway, some announcer guy started talking about a bunch of stuff relating to the venue... At 6:50 or so, Throwing Toasters came on to open for Al! Grant was amazing. Between his opening act and Al's actual show, I bought one of his albums (Dork), and got his autograph... and shook his hand. He was really nice.

Then Al started! First was Polkarama! It's incredibly amusing to see your favorite band doing the chicken dance, believe it or not. So yeah, Polkarama! was great, and bubbles came out at the end... a few popped on my head.

Then it was Canadian Idiot! CI was great, too... Al sung some strange thing during the instrumental breaks... not sure what it was. Maybe something Canadian? XD Anyway, yeah, streamers came out at the end, which was cool... I didn't get any, though. D= That's a disadvantage of being close, I suppose...

Next was Close But No Cigar. I've always loved it to begin with, but the live performance made it so much better. And I'm not kidding when I say that. He was hitting the vibraslap in funky places/ways (like his hip). He was dancing in funky ways... It was just an all-around great performance.

And then it was Bob! He introduced it by saying something along the lines of "There's kind of this 'Konocti Curse' I have when I play here at Konocti Harbor. Last time I played here, the wind blew the video screen over before the show even started, and the time before that, I fell off the stage in my Fat suit. Since I don't want anything bad to happen again, I did a bit of research... I researched "Ways to stop curses at Northern California outdoor stages," and what I found out was that the only way to get rid of the curse is to play a song consisting entirely of a random string of palindromes." So yeah, Bob was pretty good... I would have rather seen Why Does This Always Happen to Me?, though...

After Bob was It's All About the Pentiums. It was really good... I don't have much to say about it, really, except that it was incredible. And Al looked RIGHT at me a couple of times! I have one shot where he's holding his hand out towards my camera... 'Tis amazing.

Then, he did You're Pitiful. It was amazing as well. Al had five different shirts... The first was a black jacket, like in the "You're Beautiful" music video. Then he had a gold button-down shirt... not sure what that was a reference to, if it was one at all. Then, he had an accordion shirt, which had an obvious meaning. Next was an “Atlantic Records sucks” shirt, which made the crowd ERUPT. Everyone got the joke, except my dad... Poor guy. XD Last was the Spongebob shirt, which also made everyone erupt... and then he took off his pants and shoes, so all he was wearing was the Spongebob shirt, heart boxers, a pink tutu, and fishnets. Everyone loved it, obviously!

Wanna B Ur Lovr was after You’re Pitiful. I loved it. I mean, from reading other reviews and stuff, I knew it would be great, but I didn’t know that it would be as good as it was. When Al came out into the audience, he walked literally less than a foot away from me, since I was in an aisle seat. That’s what the picture of Al’s head up close is from. So yeah, I was pretty starstruck right then. XD

Next was the medley. It started out with Couch Potato, with Al in Eminem garb. When that was done, he took off his hood to reveal a Taylor Hicks wig, and he sang Do I Creep You Out?. Next, he took off his jacket to reveal a red sweater-type thing, and he put on a hat... He then sung I’m N Luv (Wit Duh Skipper), and then the new Britney verse of Headline News. After that was Confessions Part III, and then A Complicated Song. After ACS was eBay, and then Bedrock Anthem... During BA, the part of the music video that played (the animated part) was in color, which I was surprised about, considering the fact that it was black and white in the music video. He played Ode to a Superhero after Bedrock Anthem... someone came out to hold the harmonica for him - not sure who it was, though. Some assistant person. After OTAS was Pretty Fly for a Rabbi. PFFAR was pretty good, too, but I wish he had done one of the verses he didn’t do... but oh well. He played about three and a half minutes of Trapped in the Drive-Thru next, which I loved. His purple jacket was nice as well. Then he played Gump, which was also great... I don’t really have any comments on it, but I loved it. The last song of the medley was, of course, Eat It. I learned that Al is a VERY flexible person. XD And yes, believe it or not, I loved Eat It, too.

I’ll Sue Ya was right after the medley. It completely blew me away. Like, I was in sheer amazement. It was hardcore, man. Anyway, at the end, a bunch of Al money came falling down from a thing at the top of the stage... I didn’t get any until after the fact, when the security guard picked one up off the ground and gave it to me.

The Saga Begins and Yoda were next. They were both amazing... He held the “He” in “He’s a ghost” for what seemed like thirty seconds. And Yoda was pretty cool. There’s nothing like rocking out on the accordion. And there’s also nothing like the Yoda Chant. I had never seen it live before, and... wow. Just... wow.

Next was Smells Like Nirvana. It was also hardcore, just like I’ll Sue Ya. XD Also, just like the Yoda Chant, seeing it live made it LOADS better. I mean, I don’t have words to describe it.

After SLN, they played Amish Paradise. I don’t have much to say about it - which is not to say that I didn’t like it, ‘cause I loved it. It’s just kind of hard to comment on, if you know what I mean.

White and Nerdy was next, and holy cow, it was amazing, and not just because of the performance. What was amazing about it was that since it was such a popular song, there wasn’t a single person in the crowd that didn’t know the words. So literally the whole audience was singing along. It was quite a sight, really.

Fat was after WaN. It was pretty cool. During the “HO!” part, a ho (who was really the guy that held Al’s harmonica during OTAS) came out with a hoe, which was pretty funny. I would have loved to have seen Al beat up Santa live, though. *sigh* It was great, nonetheless.

Then everyone went offstage, and the whole crowd chanted “We want Al! We want Al! We want Al!” so the whole band came back to sing Cell Phones and Albuquerque.

Cell Phones was an incredible sight as well. I mean, there’s nothing like seeing a whole crowd of a few thousand people waving their cell phones around. That’s what the pictures of the blurry lights are.

Last was Albuquerque. I have so much to say about this, yet I can’t say anything about it. It was just incredible. At one point, Al swallowed a fly, and started coughing. Then, he was like “Swallowed any flies tonight? They’re not that bad.” At another point in the song, the security guard right in front of me was talking to some people and made them leave. Al was like “What’s going on here?” When they left, he was like “Well, thanks for coming. Hope you enjoyed the show!” Also, he added so many things to the song, like new nicknames from Zelda, more types of doughnuts, a guitar solo, etc. Ah, the guitar solo was funny. He was giving Jim really weird looks the whole time. XD And he also added a bit more rambling and reiteration, to make the song even longer! Albuquerque live was the most amazing thing I have ever seen.

After the show, we lined up to meet Al. There was a line for people with backstage passes and a line for those of us without them. When all the people without the passes were done, one of the security guards (who was a real jerk) was all like “Sorry, I don’t know what you’re waiting for, we just put him on the bus. He’s only obliged to meet with the people who have passes, and he has fulfilled that obligation,” or something along those lines. Anyway, everyone could tell he was lying and we wouldn’t leave. But then he was like “Guys, he’s not coming out, he’s on the bus for real,” and made us leave. He was lying, though, which really made me mad. And the thing is, there were only like 30 people in the line for people without passes. He could have let us in to meet Al. It’s not like there were 500 people or something like that. But Steve Jay did walk by us in line a couple of times!

But other than that, the whole night was amazing!

Thanks for the review. Sounds like it was a great show! I can't wait to see him! 18 more days! AHHHHHHH!

Looking forward to seeing your pics.

Too bad the security guards were being jerks. <_<

Btw, Kay911, I'm using your CBNC pic for my desktop. It looks glorious!

4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

It got passed up the line to me that: "Al said he only had a contractual obligation to meet with the people who had backstage passes, and the rest of us should go home." I'm certain that wasn't what Al said at all, but we eventually got the message and left.

Steve had yelled to me and Tonya that he wanted to say HI after the show, but we weren't able to hook up even though we waited around for about an hour.

It was a lovely night, although I'm sorry I didn't get to meet Kayy911 and I didn't know that was Al's 27th Fan right in front of me (I got some excellent pictures of the back of your head!)

It was a great show, of course, and the only thing close to a problem was a number of flying insects decided to get a closer look at things, but fortunately it didn't turn into another "Attack of the May Flies" show.

Al was very funny when he swallowed whatever bug went down his throat. He was leaning close to someone near the stage, ranting during Albuquerque and suddenly started coughing and gagging. Then he asked them conversationally something to the effect "Have you sampled the bugs tonight? They're really rather tasty". There was also a minor ruckus when some people with a little girl tried to upgrade their seats during the encore and were escorted back to their seats. Al watched them and said "Hey, what's going on? Is everything OK? Goodbye! Goodbye!" I felt sorry for the folks, but guess the guards were just going what they were supposed to do.

The guards really loved both Grant and Al. I watched the one in front of me, and he was always looking back at the stage and cracking up. Seemed like a very nice guy. (Al's #27 Fan, I saw when he gave you the Al buck.)

On a side note about the venue: We decided we stayed in the Paris Hilton suite because it was about the size of a prison cell. The buffet was not at all what we expected for the price -- they offered plastic plates and utensils, and a lot of the veggies appeared to have come straight from industrial size cans. The really criminal part was they didn't even have water fountains available, so if you got thirsty, you had to pay $3.00 for a bottle of water. To me, that really stinks!

Anyway, it was great to meet up with Diva and Cinnamon and Parody_Freak27, and Krista and I saw Sean Peterson there, too, and all the folks I hadn't seen since last tour.

Most unique concert experience? When I got back to our room I took off my "Weird Al is my Homeboy" shirt to take a shower and little pieces of paper confetti went all over the place. Michael's eyes bugged out and he said "How the heck did you get confetti inside your shirt, and...well, various other places you really don't want to hear about here  ". I told him he just doesn't understand the energy & enthusiasm that goes with being a fan, but even I'm having a hard time figuring that one out.

Great show, wonderful time, I can't wait for more shows! :yay:
