Hmmm...I'll have to see how close Pigeon Forge is to SW VA and decide if I want to go to this one or the Kings Dominion one since I know I can't afford both.

Edit: I just checked mapquest.com and it's about the same distance but I'm leaning towards the Kings Dominion show. Although I haven't been to the park in about 10 years, I have been there so if I have to cut short my rollercoaster riding/sight-seeing it won't be too big of a deal. I'm assuming the TN concert is at Dollywood and since I've never been there, I'd like the first time I go to be just to see the park and not feel like I'm rushed. Plus, the KD show is the day before my mom's birthday and I'm kinda hoping I can turn her into an Al fan and get her to come to the concert with me. Either way, I'd planned on driving down to see her for her birthday after the concert. As much as I'd love to make both shows, unless I end up with a cash windfall of some sort, that ain't gonna happen!

Glad you're going to get a TN show Joshua!

I'm so there. I have no idea what the venue is exactly, but I'm there.

It'll be my 4th time seeing Al.

You can find the address and what the venue looks like here

I'll be in my White & Nerdy Hoodie, so if anybody wants to say "Hi" for some odd reason, look in the Photo Topic for pics of me...

I live in Nashville, so it will be about a 7-8 hr. drive to and from Pigeon Forge.

The TN concert IS NOT at Dollywood, just wanna make that known

Thanks Ambra!!!! :Y

THe concert will be an outdoor concert if the website is accurate

Move over bears - Dick Clark is on the way.

A giant retail store in Sevier County that once housed thousands of stuffed teddy bears has been purchased by a Florida company that plans to transform it into an American Bandstand-themed theater and museum.

Riptide Entertainment of Miami paid $12.9 million for slightly more than 38 acres of property and a 130,000-square-foot store at 149 Cates Lane in Pigeon Forge.

The property was formerly home to Boyds Bear Country, a five-story, barn-shaped retail property owned by Pennsylvania-based The Boyds Collection, which makes collectible teddy bears. The store opened in 2004 and was one of only two run by the company nationwide. It was closed last year when the company decided to focus on retail sales through independent vendors.

According to a regulatory filing by its parent company, Riptide was formed to develop, own and operate "Ripley's Believe It or Not" museum locations throughout the world. In 2006, according to a news release, Riptide purchased a license to use the trade name "Dick Clark's American Bandstand" in the development and production of live musical tribute shows.

Keith Widmer, a broker with R.M. Moore Real Estate Co. in Knoxville, represented Boyds Collection on the deal. Widmer said the Pigeon Forge property will be called the Dick Clark's American Bandstand Complex.

The broker said the company plans to have an outdoor concert series on the site this summer, and will eventually build a new theater at the location, and possibly two. He said plans call for the existing building to house a restaurant and museum and gift shop, and the company also plans a Dick Clark-themed hotel and condominiums.

Officials with Riptide could not be reached for comment.

Widmer said the new owners have been working with John Stuart, founder of the Las Vegas musical impersonation show "Legends in Concert", which features knock-offs of performers including Ricky Martin, Whitney Houston and Elvis Presley.

Widmer said the owners of the Pigeon Forge property would like to bring a similar show to East Tennessee. "They want to bring in Las Vegas quality to Sevier County," he said.
now let me tell you what you DIDN'T win!

Ah, so the place doesn't open until June 15th. I'm glad August 3rd is a Friday. I'll probably make a weekend out of the whole thing...go visit my friends in Knoxville.
I'm also from Nashville.

And of course with Al they get Michael Jackson, Kurt Cobain, Taylor Hicks, Coolio, Don McLean, Chamillionaire...
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.
