My impresions of this concert were as follows. First, this might be the first and only time I ever see a show at the Sherman. Not for anything, but that theater was just really lame. When I walked in, I couldn't even see the stage, it was so hazy. The accoustics in that place don't carry very well, either. I was not too close to the stage (maybe 40 feet from the back entrance), and if I didn't know the lyrics to the songs that they were playing, I wouldn't be able to tell. And don't even get me started on the parking situation.
The crowd (or at least the people I was around) didn't really seem to be too into the concert. I mean, they were watching and all that, but I know I was the only one I could see that actually knew the lyrics of every song he was signing, minus the new concert only's I haven't seen yet. Normally at an Al concert I can at least pick out a few people who are the die-hards. I didn't seem to find that this time.
The band seemed to be pretty tight, from what I could tell. Al seemed to have even more expresions when he was signing than I can remember in past concerts. I dug what I stayed for. I commited sacralidge, I know. I left early. After Yoda was over, I bailed. I figured with me getting 3 hours of sleep (saw Spiderman 3) on Thursday night, not finding a place I could stop to eat dinner beforehand, and having a 220 mile roundtrip drive, I better get out soon before I fall asleep and injur myself driving home. Had I not been going to tonights concert at the HOB, I would have stayed for the whole thing, though. a lot of the Al TV interviews they were playing were some of the older ones. I don't think I've ever seen the Madonna, Cher or Mick/Kieth ones at an Al concert before.
So, cliffs notes versions: Al and the band were good, the theater wasn't.

That girl behind us......DrSteggy @ May 5 2007, 05:59 AM wrote: I am so so so glad we have seats for tonight...my back's OK, but my feet are tired!
We were in a bad spots for photos of things other than the backs of heads...plus the girl behind us was sort of causing an uproa the entire show making security a frequent visitor to our general location. The show was GREAT though....and the staff at the theater great, as mentioned. As we left the theater a Security guy actually followed us to point out where the bus was for the post show!
..and I need to go get ready for work. See ya in AC!

Yeah, pictures just weren't happening last night... It was enough of an effort to keep my sight lines open without worrying about framing any shots.
I'll never be as happy to see a friggin' chair as I will be tonight!
Hope you make out OK with work... make sure no animals "go live with Carlos".

God, My FIRST Al show! It was absolutley perfect...The audience knew all the words, including Albuquerque...(and of course, I did too!!!)
I got a picture (a PICTURE!!) and Al signed my ticket!!!!!! Didn't see any of the band (or you, Elvis...Where were ya?? I was right up on the stage, mostly, so...) I gotta say, Al is probably one of the nicest guys I'll ever meet. And he's SO appealing to kids!
I'll probably be changing my avatar to my concert photo pretty soon...Speaking of photos, I got a few. Most were blurry, but I had at least one good one. (How do I post photos?? Anybody?? JEDM?)
Anyway, I got this show for my b-day, and it was the best present anyone has ever given me...to be right in front of this...man-GOD!
ALL HAIL AL!!!!!!

She was annoyed that there were people were standing in front of her, and was starting fights with everyone who got into her airspace.Squirrelygirl @ May 5 2007, 12:28 PM wrote:

Yeah, she chewed me out because I was "crowding" her... um, we were all crowded, it was standing room only.DrSteggy @ May 5 2007, 01:38 PM wrote: She was annoyed that there were people were standing in front of her, and was starting fights with everyone who got into her airspace.

I think she cast some expletives Jackie's way as well and accused her of stepping on her toes 30 times or something stupid like that. I hear her get into some argument with the people behind her too, so she was an equal opportunity

Enough of that -- how about some positivity?

Oh yeah, it turns out that the shirt I made has been supplanted by some official merch. Al looked at it and was like "I thought I rejected that design"... turns out they had come up with the same thing, and he liked the ones they're actually using for the official merch better.
