Trapped In The Drive-thru Video

Is AL-TV returning or did you find a nice interview? Just tell the folks here.

No, but judging by the last several videos, he MIGHT just pay someone else to make that kind of video.

Anyway, R. Wappin is a special case. He is a freaking genius, so one example is not going to trump everything else.

Um...that's not the only example I gave. And it's certainly not the only example of a fan video that is far superior to TitDT. Every one of the videos linked at the mothership (with the exception of those Anime ones) is better.

I'm sorry that you don't like the Drive Thru video, I do like it, as I'm sure the majority of Al fans DO.

Read the rest of the thread. The comments seem to say otherwise.

It's true that most of the fan videos are for songs that don't have an official video, I think it might be because it's hard to come up with something completely fresh when there's a well known video for the song already. Some of the fan videos have great potential, and some are downright awesome. I love the NIN-style video for Germs and R.Wappin's video for Albuquerque. And I agree with Jeremy, I reckon R.Wappin could do a better video of TitDT, and Pancreas too. I'd be interested to see what he'd do with DDTS as well. Weasel Stomping Day is fine as it is though.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with LN3000, I don't see how videos comprised of iMovie style presets and iPhoto style slideshows are in any way on par with a full length animated video.

Everything else aside, the TITDT video has now close to 3 million views on Myspace making it the second most viewed Weird Al video on the net! And guess what, most comments are raving about it. The people have spoken!
Um... that stapler?

That may well be the only time that phrase is ever posted on WOWAY.

It's better because it didn't make me want to stop watching it--it held my attention. After two minutes of the "Drive-Thru" video, I was already thinking 'this is boring' and about opening up a new tab.

But the examples I'm talking about are done in flash animation, not the slide show ones. I'm talking about videos like "Albuquerque," TNSWC, and AWBP (I forgot to mention that one - EXCELLENT VIDEO!). Even still, the program used to make the videos is irrelevant. The quality of the animation, what the video adds to the song, and the funniness of the jokes are what matter. The animation of TitDT is fine. I have no beef with that aspect. It's the fact that it brought nothing new to the song and it didn't make me even crack a smile.

Like Bob said, it had me bored after the first couple minutes.

Everything else aside, the TITDT video has now close to 3 million views on Myspace making it the second most viewed Weird Al video on the net! And guess what, most comments are raving about it. The people have spoken!

There are 3 million people who actually CARED about the outcome of the Anna Nicole Smith paternity test, too. That doesn't make them at all a good judge of anything.

Besides, most of those people are not Al's fanbase, and they likely never heard the song before seeing the video. And like many of us have said, if the video was the first exposure we had to the song, we probably would have liked it just as much as those 3 million people. But that's to the credit of the SONG, not the VIDEO. I love the song, as I'm sure all those people who watched it on MySpace did, but the video just isn't good.

One thing I can say that's positive about the video, though: At least they didn't rely on any lame gimmicks. You know, like stupid camera angles and stuff. :F

Just saw this video for the first time and didn't like it at all. It's just.... illustrated lyrics. There are no additional jokes or visual gags that add anything to the song.
