Is AL-TV returning or did you find a nice interview? Just tell the folks here.

I'll take a bit of what Bruce The Duck said, mixed with some of what Seth said.

As soon as I saw that it was a literal interpretation, nothing surprised me. I got a laugh out of the radio bit, that was the only part that was different to how I imagined it in my head.

Like Seth said, it's not entirely the animator's fault, but there should have been more visual gags.

aaaaaaand Doogtoons should have hosted it on their website so we could watch it in decent quality. That would have been better.

A good Al video should ADD to the song with visual gags. This really had no visual gags whatsoever, unless you count the radio part. And it's especially important in a long video like this to have visual gags just for the sake of keeping the audience's attention. Look at how well R. Wappin did with "Albuquerque."
Exactly.

I love love love the song, but this video added nothing to it and I got pretty bored with it.

It would have also really helped if they added references to Trapped in the Closet or something.

It was ok. But like everyone else is saying, it really didn't add anything to the song. The radio part and rack focus were cool but otherwise it was pretty much pointless.

1. White and Nerdy
2. Do I Creep You Out
3. Close But No Cigar
4. I'll Sue Ya
5. Weasel Stomping Day
6. Virus Alert
7. Trapped in the Drive-Thru
8. Polkarama!
9. Don't Download This Song
10. Pancreas
I'm ranking every Beatles song on my new pop culture blog. Check it out!

Eh.

Animation was well done, but video added nothing to the song. Mostly boring and hardly worth watching again. Very literal. The radio gag was the only thing that made me chuckle. Except for the wife, none of the characters looked like what I pictured in my head either. I even pictured a sports car rather than a VW bug. This video would have been much funnier live action. At least the video in my imagination was. :P

Now I wish this Doogtoons had done a video for "Confessions Part III" (or even "Canadian Idiot"), because the potential for visual gags is much greater there. I think R. Wappin's video had/has us spoiled into thinking such a long song could be good in video form. But the truth is that the video adds nothing to the song.

three things I didn't like

1.No emotion
2.No visual gags
3.No Al

Yeah, can we talk about that last point for a second? It would've had at least a little more redeeming quality if the protagonist looked like Al - or even Al-as-R-Kelly.

Agreed. The main character in the imaginary video in my head was Al.

Dave

Edit: At least the plumber named Paul kind of looked like an aging balding Al. Kind of. Maybe.

He added a few Trapped in the Closet references. The beginning (duh) and when he's ordering and they have the side-by-side, and when they're driving to the drive-thru the way the camera moves around the car is similar to that of the original video...ya that's about it. :P

I enjoyed it.
