To answer y our questions, thepowerofpolka, I think Al did have his eyes dimmed a lot... But I dunno... The second question, yeah... at times it looked like it might've flung off, but eh... I wonder if that happened during other songs live... Heh, now you have ME wondering!

I taped it, but it didn't work
so I'm grateful for the youtube link. DL the video file as I type this. Thanks for the great work, everyone!
I loved it. But you know, this is kind of what I wanted to see for eBay. I wanted TBITB to come out from behind their instruments and do the boy band thang. Ah well... a girl can still dream.
I didn't think it was possible for Steve to look thinner. Ha! They guys were great! Did I mention I loved it?

hey, not my problem. i was going for ease and versatility. the raw capture is the same quality as his, i just scaled it down to help people out. mpeg-2 is naturally a larger file size, so i really had no choice.weirdalfan95 @ Nov 3 2006, 03:42 PM wrote: ... And Eldeemo's doesn't look scaledd down... Weird. His version is in a much better quality and the size of the screen is bigger when Kristine's the opposite... Heh.

That ROCKED! I LOVED how Al had Steve and Jim sing with him. Also if you guys are "annoyed" by how Steve and Jim would sing like the first few words that's normal. In FACT, Al could be parodying Chamillionaire, cause that's EXACTLY what he does live too. I was unfortunate to stumble upon a live Ridin' performance when I was looking on Youtube for the original song.
And YES there was some Alcan, but you can also hear Steve's and Jim's voice also.

This is not going to be a very popular opinion, but I happen to think the performance was very uninspired and rather boring.
I liked the Sequay (sp?) intro and the costumes. I also didn't mind the pre-recorded bits - it was actually a clever way to tackle the performance and keep to the same tempo. It would have been impossible to perform it straight through, at the same tempo, and without any breaks. Not even the best professional rappers could do that. (*waits for Ryan to come by and correct me on that*)
What I was disappointed with is that if you ignore the costumes and props, this performance is pretty much exactly the same as every other rap performance Al has done.
Think about it. He's done concert versions of five rap songs: AP, CP, IAATP, TD, and now W&N. Every single one of those are essentially THE EXACT SAME PERFORMANCE. Sure, in IAATP he walks back and forth, and AP is quite a bit slower than the others, but other than dressing up in different costumes he doesn't really do anything to make those performances stand out.
Now, for most recording artists all they need to do is stand and sing or dance and sing. But Al's built up a reputation of really clever concert pieces as strong or stronger than his videos. Just look at how performances of LAS, Yoda, Fat, OMM, WBUL, and many others are compared to the rap songs. I realize that it's more difficult for Al to perform rap than the other genres, and that he sometimes has to sacrifice some of the more creative pieces. But I'm just kind of over seeing him do the same performance for every single rap song.
It's ironic. The rap songs are easily among Al's very best parodies BY FAR. But the live performances of those same songs are my least favorite to watch, by just as far!
Does all this mean I didn't appreciate seeing the song performed on The Tonight Show? Of course not! Does it mean I won't go to his concert? Hell no! But yeah...kind of disappointed with the performance. On the other hand, it was EXACTLY what I had expected, and that's also part of the disappointment I guess.
