Yeah, that quote's from this video. I posted it a few days ago in the Hangin' 27 topic, and it was on the Al-oholics Anonymous news page, so it could have been easily overlooked. :)

clicky

I would still like to know what the Green Day guys think of Canadian Idiot now that it's out. I searched for "Canadian Idiot" on Google to see if any GD fans have heard it or like it. From the couple I saw, most fans don't. Oh well. Can't please everyone, right? Although there was talk about Amish Paradise climbing up the charts in the next few weeks...

EDIT: Nevermind, the video's up in the Yank Blog. Didn't see that. :F

and sometimes he does better than the original

The question is, do they feel this way about CI? I really think they could go either way with their reactions: they seem to have a great collective sense of humor, but at the same time I'm sure they had a specific agenda with AI, and might be offended at the way the parody turned out. I highly doubt it, but ya never know! ;)

Wonder how Al phrased the song idea when it was pitched to them...:F

Wait. "Canadian Idiot" is out...as a single? I thought there was a video coming out for "Do I Creep You Out." Or is CI the second single, followed then by DICYO?

CI hasn't been released as an *official* single as far as I know, but accordion to the Mothership under "Singles":

CANADIAN IDIOT 82* 10/21/06

So...confusion, anyone?

The chart rank is fueled almost entirely by iTunes sales, just as they have contributed significantly to W&N's rank. This is very most likely not the first time a basic album track has hit the singles charts due to iTunes, but I think it just looks strange to us because we're so used to the "big" promoted songs to naturally be the only ones off the albums to resonate with the general music-buying public.

But really, theoretically any song from the album could show up on the "Hot 100" if enough people buy it online. But so far, the official promoted singles from SOL have been DDTS and W&N, with DICYO? most likely being pushed as the third.

I'm wondering about R. Kelly's reaction to Trapped in the Drive Thru. We all know he's in love with his Closet series and takes it rather seriously.

Accordion instead of according?...come on, now that's a funny error.

"Accordion" is widely used here to replace "according". Because accordion to Al, the according rules. :D

Alright, bringing this cool topic back from the dead.

If I remember correctly, George Harrison wasn't so keen on "This Song Is Just Six Words Long". Apparently, Weird Al asked the writers for permission and not George.

Didn't The Offspring also comment on Pretty Fly For A Rabbi at one point? I swear I heard they did.
I bought some batteries but they weren't included, so I bought them again.

I know the Offspring commented that "Laundry Day" was too silly of an idea or something... apparently they had no problem with Rabbi.

And yeah, I remember something about George Harrison talking about that song.
