I wish I could find a source on this, but I remember reading somewhere that they didn't want to be pigeon-holed as only making that type of music. I also remember reading that Al had approached TMBG about doing a tour together which they were less than enthused about.

I think that this is a really cool idea and it does seem like t=something Vh1 would do but the only problem is that the original artists probably wouldnt want to do that, maybe a few but most i'm guessing no.
I just came up with an idea, it would be kinda like a roast

Really? Wow! That's pretty surprising. If they didn't want to be pigeon-holed, then why did they make that "kind" of music for so many years before EYKIW?
Anyway, if you find the source of that information, I'd be really interested to read it.
