Is AL-TV returning or did you find a nice interview? Just tell the folks here.

Something I like about choosing "You're Beautiful" to parody is that Al is getting a slew of international mentions.
This means something. This is important.

Finally, the anti-retirement blurb, courtesy of the "Fort Worth Star-Telegram."

From their regular "Fab Five" column of cool events in the world of entertainment:

You're Pitiful by 'Weird Al' Yankovic

5 Has it really been three years since Al's most recent album, Poodle Hat, hit shelves? Surely we're not the only ones jonesing for his unique, accordion-laced brand of musical mockery, which is why rumor of a new parody song on his official Web site ( www.weirdal.com) had us reaching for the mouse the minute we heard. We've never been big on mediocre pop/soul singer James Blunt's You're Beautiful, but Al's insulting spin on it ("You're pitiful, it's true. Never had a date that you couldn't inflate, and you smell repulsive, too, what a bummer being you.") reminded us why we miss him so much. Now how 'bout a new album?

I logged on to AOL and saw a little link on the main page, so I clicked it

And you should to.

Cool mention! They got the title wrong, but other than that, it's a very nice article.
ETA: Wow, I didn't even notice the part about it being on the main page. That's excellent publicity!
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

A lot of very nice and upbeat comments there (in addition to the cool article on the song) ... thanks for posting, minnick (I've been on AOL a good part of the day, and didn't notice it until you pointed it out).

I was just coming over here to mention that. I'd leave a comment on how it's Atlantic, not Blunt, blocking the parody, but with my screen name, I'd probably get all kinds of idiots e-mailing me, and even talking about Al's not worth that :P
You have quickly thought up such matchless phrase?

This comment on that AOL article made me laugh:

5. Weird Al has been around for quite a while and with this recording he demonstrates that with a different name and haircut he could crank out his own hits without mimicking others.
Hey Al. Get brave and write and perform your own music and do it straight. You really do have a good voice.

hmmm, this person must be a HUGE Al fan

I also left a comment about how Atlantic is to blame, not that there had been much Blunt-bashing comments, but the truth must be known :P

Thanks for posting that link, minnick. Very nice mention, and good publicity for Al.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

On STAR FM, a radio station on the Central Coast, they were talking about 'You're Beautiful' parodies, and played 'My Cubicle' (DED sort of song). Then Vic (one of the hosts who makes parodies himself) said that 'the King of Parodies, "Weird Al" Yankovic has done one himself called 'You're Pitiful' that's availilable on his website' and played You're Pitiful up to the end of the first chorus. :whoot:

Lines that got major laughs were the intro & inflatable date.

At the end, comments about it were along the lines of "It's not 'Fat' or 'Eat It' but it's really good" & "That's the best one [You're Beautiful parody] yet"

And THAT my friends, is the only good thing about getting up at 6:08 AM in the middle of winter
Sever your leg, please. It's the greatest day.

I left a comment responding to that. I've lost count of how many people I've had to tell that Al has original songs.
