I dunno...but i think that since a lot of commentators from various "music" websites have said that they didn't know Al was still around....and that the last tiem the heard of him was Bad Hair Day...

An Em video would have been great for album sales, IMO

just going back to how crap Atlantic Records are and how weird it is that they are going against Blunt's wishes....I was just doing some homework and the screensaver from the We've Got It All On UHF Screensaver came on while I was working. I wasn't paying much attention to it, but what caught my eye was that BHD said Scotti Bros/Warner/All America/Eleckra/Atlantic

It really must have been issues with royalties, I can't see any other reason why they wouldn't let Al release the parody if they've worked with him [in some form] before.

Well, the NPR article explains everything. How stupid of Atlantic Records doing that, stupid company politics. How stupid of Atlantic Records to go against their own artist's wishes. I love Al that he backs down on stuff like this, so he did save Blunt from being alienated from his own label.

Now that AL is going back into the studio (when?) he should record a song called "Stick it to the Man" or something like that. Slap Atlantic in the face.

But that won't happen. We all know AL doesn't play that game.

So it was the record company all along. I figured as much. I can't believe they went against their own artist's wishes and turned Al down. It just goes to show you that the suits at Atlantic Records have no sense of humor. I agree that they have earned a #1 spot on top of The List. Al really is a class act, though. He definitely could still have released it but he's just such a nice guy.

Yes, he could have released it, but he said he didn't want there to be a war between Atlantic and Volcano, so he passed on that idea. That is why we fans respect him so much. Besides, the song getting so much more publicity this way.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

That's more or less what I was trying to say. I'm not criticizing him. I have a lot of respect for Al for not creating conflict between record companies. I think it's awesome that the song is getting so much publicity. That's the best to way to stick it to these Atlantic stiffs.

Wow. Atlantic Records sucks.

But this song is awesome! Especially the "should I start now?" thing at the beginning.

I'll post more later, I've been gone for a week and I need to sit down and catch up with everything that's been going on lately...

Are there any other artists out there (other than James Blunt) that would be good fodder for parody who are under the Atlantic Records label? I would venture to say that if there are, they may not be parodied.

Also, has AL ever parodied someone off of Atlantic?
