I just saw something that made me kind of miffed. I looked on the tour list for Touring With Scissors, and there are five songs that are on there that aren't on the DVD. Money For Nothing, Fast Food, Addicted To Spuds, Free Delivery and Laundry Day. I know that 3 of those were unreleased but I would have loved to see them live.

Yeah, I've always wondered why they couldn't be on the DVD... Does anyone know why they couldn't be on the DVD? Possible Greg?

I believe the unreleased songs weren't on there because Al never got permission for them, and he didn't want to violate the mutual trust he has with the artists he parodies. Legally, he probably could have, but he chose not to. I think the reason for not having "Money For Nothing/Beverly Hillbilles" and "Addicted to Spuds" on there was because those songs were both before or after an unreleased song in the medley, and the transition in the medley would have had to have been edited, and it may not have worked.
Oh by the way, I've cracked the code.

Well its just as easy to edit out one song as it is to edit out three, so there must be another explanation. I cant think of any though.

technically it is, but like kevbo said, the songs in the medleys are arranged in away that the transitions make sense, Al isn't just randomly jumping from one song to another, so cutting a song from the middle would make the transition sound weird

i just thought a bit more about what you meant minnick, and i do get what you mean, cutting three songs from the medley would leave the same weird transition as cutting one, so why cut them all?

i just checked, and all of those songs that weren't on the DVD were from the very beginning of the medley

Medley:
Money For Nothing/Beverly Hillbillies, Fast Food (Thank You), Addicted To Spuds, Free Delivery (My Heart Will Go On), Laundry Day, Pretty Fly For A Rabbi, Another One Rides The Bus, I Love Rocky Road, Achy Breaky Song, Jurassic Park, Grapefruit Diet, I Lost On Jeopardy, Eat It

they pretty much cut the medley in half

Oh, you don't need me. Kevbo explained it nicely.

As for why MFN/BH and "Spuds" weren't retained in some way, in addition to the musical transitions I think it's probably very true that the edits themselves would have seemed too awkward. Starting the medley a tad abruptly with "Rabbi" is one thing since everything after that will stay in, but perhaps three noticeable cuts within the medley would have broken up the flow too much?

I guess if they really wanted to, they probably could have edited MFN/BH to present it as a stand-alone number, but even then the ending probably would have been too abrupt.
