I can't believe I forgot to mention this! I performed White & Nerdy at my church camp on December 31st, 2006. I think it went really well. People there know that I'm a huge Weird Al fan and, I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I'm rather popular at my church and known for being a funny guy, so people were happy to see me get up there. I began with a spoken intro that went something like:
"*joke about the leaders that you wouldn't understand*. Anyways, I really do enjoy coming out to these kinds of things. This is really a great group. It's really the people that make it what it is. I've really enjoyed getting the chance to know so many of you on that deep and personal level. I've been thinking back, though, and I've realized that I haven't really opened myself up in this same way; and for that I apologize, or, in most cases, say 'you're welcome'. Right now I'd like to rectify this problem. Right now, I am going to give you a look into the deepest pits of my soul and show you who I really am in my inner-most being."
The music began (after a bit of technical difficulty) and I took off my sweater to revel the White & Nerdy hoodie (greeted by cheers, as no one had ever seen it before, outside of the official video). I had my friend Steven up with me. He stayed quiet for most of the song, but he sang backup during the choruses. Anyways, the first verse went really well, and the second chorus is where everything happened. I put the mic down after "Here's the part I sing on" and it was Steven's job to do the entire second chorus by himself while I changed, on stage, into my nerdy attire (pink button-up short sleeve shirt, geeky pants, W&N pocket protector, and thick glasses). That really caught everyone by surprise and they loved it. I did the second verse and third chorus in this outfit and the song was over. It went over really well
A lot of fun.
My friend said she got it on video, so I'll see if I can post it here.

I think a really fun one to do would be Your Horoscope for Today, but we don't have an instrumental version of that one (yet
).

I think I mentioned this before somewhere, but on December 13th, in my Advanced Drama class's holiday-themed Coffee Talk (short performances, is all), I did a lip-sync to "White & Nerdy", with a video slideshow I created in the background, and while wearing the (of course) "White & Nerdy" hoodie. Despite some trouble getting the video started, the performance turned out to be one of the highlights of the night. Seriously, if you had heard the cheers from that crowd...just wow.
Someone really should have recorded that performance. It was that good.

I am shocked, offended, and a little turned on.

When I was in high school there was a "talent show" of sorts called Caberet. (not to be confused with the Broadway show of the same name) I performed Al all four years. The routine actually became really popular and after the first year I started gathering a small fan base. I ended up doing two songs my sophomore and junior and 4 songs my senior year because there wasn't a large enough turnout at auditions. It was so much fun! My mom still talks about my performance of Amish Paradise.

HEy guys, I'm pretty sure I told you that I performed "White And Nerdy" at my school's talent show, and I posted this in my blog on MySpace, reviewing the entire day of the show.

December 22nd (Performance Day)
I was up and ready to go by 5:55, one hour before I had to leave, so I pretty much did nothing for an hour except sit around for an hour in my nerd attire. The least you could say is that I was nervous, because I was, I had been waiting for this day for a year. I got to school, wearing my coat over my clothes cause I didn't want anyone to see my outfit before the performance. I get to school and I check in with my homeroom (we had to before we went to the auditorium) and I went to the auditorium.
When I got there, there were already a few people there, mostly the people in the bands, setting up and doing band stuff. I put my stuff, (jacket and bookbag) on a chair and went to go talk to my friends. One of the stage crew members then announced that the dressing rooms were open and I got up and put my stuff in there. When I got back to the stage, Courtney and Cody were there waiting for me. I told them where to put their stuff and then I realized that Anthony wasen't there yet, so I started to freak out. Mostly because Mr. B just announced that the show will be starting in 8 minutes. I ran out into the hall and didn't see him at all, after about 5 minutes, I saw him walking from the CTC building, and I ran toward him in what should have been slow motion. We all got backstage and we played the 'waiting game'.
Out of 18 acts, we were number 8, not a long time to wait, but a wait nonetheless. We (me and my jock 'entourage') also had to push out the piano for the act right before ours. We pushed it out and we waited till the girl before us was done. The audience clapped for her and we had to wait a little bit longer for the stage crew to push the piano to the side of the stage. Once I got the OK, I walked through the curtains to a crowd waiting. When I walked out, the lights were still off, which I thought was awesome. Only a few people could tell that I had walked on-stage. So there were a few, 'go Abbott' screams, and then all the lights turned on, so everyone could now see me. And a lot of people cheered when they saw me, I walked with the mic toward my friends dressed as jocks (and I think this is funny, because none of them are jocks at all, they are all in the band.) From here on are the actual lines said...enjoy.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Nerd: (To first jock with hand up in the air, expecting a high five) Sup dawg? How's it going? (no responce from jock)
(To second jock, hand still up in the air) How's it goin W? No, wait...that's not the letter..umm..Q? No, that's not it, what's the letter? What's the letter? Oh yea, G! G Homie, hows it going? (No responce from jock)
(To last jock, hand still in the air) Come on big man, hit me up top. Come on, you know what to do, just hit my hand with your's.
(Nerd finally puts hand down and feels embarrassed to a sea of laughter from the jocks.)
Jock1: Man, look at this guy, he is such a nerd, I mean look at the way he's dressed, he's...oh umm...Abbott (she points to zipper on pants, nerd fake pulls up zipper)
Jock2: I know, look at him, he is such a loser, he has to be the whitest person in this entire school.
[For those who went to the first show, this is what you heard, if you went to the second show, you heard "I know, he's so white it's like he belongs in the Computer Networking class" which is full of white and nerdy people, and because the entire class was in the audience, so we had to poke fun a little bit.]
Jock3: Guys, lets leave this loser alone, he's just too white and nerdy for us. (Slams mic into nerds chest as the jocks walk offstage)
(Nerd stands there saying 'ow' and rubbing his chest until the music starts)
MUSIC STARTS
Nerd: Let's go Whitmer, it's White and Nerdy time. I want everyone to stand up, come on stand up...or just stay seated, that'll work fine also.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
More good news...I am getting the whole performance on video pretty soon, so I'll be able to show you guys what exactly this all looked like.
