How anyone can mention any critique of Poodle Hat and not include Hardware Store?

I think it is a flat-out, no holds barred BRILLIANT song. Talk about a solid wall of sound!

It is a virtual tapestry of music, and I can't imagine how complex that was to write and produce. It is probably my all-time favorite piece of music in any genre.

I was having a miserable day a few weeks back, and when that song came on in a random play, my mood elevated immediately and by the end of the song, I was smiling again. Al's music can make everything bearable, even enjoyable again.

As some of these music critics prove, one can be young in age and still have the heart of a cranky old, humorless gas-bag of a curmudgeon.

I couldn't agree more, sg. But it is easy to miss the brilliance if you only listen to it once or twice. It took me several listens to really grasp what was going on with that song. Not only do you have the complex harmonies, fast pace (remember Al had to keep precise tempo in all of the harmony parts he recorded) but the rhyme structure of THE VERSE is incredible. Brilliant isn't too strong a word for the song. Or the man.

Well the Bad News version of Bohemian Rhapsody scared the heck out of me when I first saw it....that's pretty dubious

But apparently most of "Weird Al Yankovic" (the album) was recorded there. "Weird Al Yankovic" (the artist) is live. He wasn't recorded anywhere, except the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder. Just to keep that clear.

In the "Oops! department, though, they listed a Dylan album called "Outside The Empire" as having been recorded there... and the Dylan album they actually recorded there was called "Empire Burlesque." "Outside the Empire" is a bootleg album

that is comprised of outtakes from "Empire Burlesque."

hehe, yeah. Bad News was pretty much an all-British comedians(actually, comic actor is abetter term) version of Spinal Tap. They came out after Spinal Tap, actually. I have two Bad News videotapes, and a Bad News cd. The writer may have been referring to Bad News with the dubious description, since none of them were musicians. So, if you think of it that way, it would be doubtful that the song would sound as good with non-musicians joining Al, who we all know is a very accomplished musician. However, Bad News did play at some big deal heavy metal concert with Ozzy once.

Bad News reunited three of the four original members of The Young Ones cast, who are all pretty funny guys. I don't think any offense was meant toward Al.

That's a pretty good interview! Those hosts were very courteous and seemed really excited to have Al on.
