Welcome aboard, Mr. Chemel. I'm a fairly clueless, fairly newby fan... I confess I've never heard your name in relation to Al. But I'd love to hear more.

And do you have any early pics?

Please post more, we'd love to pick your brain!

Scotti- I would love to- but I was googling my name for an ebay radio interview I am doing- and came across this board and the post. I just thought I would set the record straight from my end.

I haven't talked to Al since 75 or 76- even ran into him at a VSDA show- and he didn't recognize me.-

I do recall packing the placebo record at John Schwartz' apt one nite with some of Al's Friends.

I do recall Al and the band rehearsing in my garage in Sherman Oaks prior to the Dr. Demento Country Club Gig.

Prior to Al - I earned over 18 Gold/Platinum records for Heart, ELO, and Bob Seger in Album Promotion.

I did send a note to Al at Jay Levey's office following the tragic passing of his parents- but received no acknowledgement.

Take Care

Man, you never know who's going to turn up around here, do you?

I take back the snippiness I posted about Mr. Chemel. It makes sense the way he explains it. And if he's not actually an artists' manager, it explains why Al didn't continue to employ him as one.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

Orthography- Thanks for the post. Truth aways prevails- even in the entertainment business. BTW- Al never employed me- in fact- I never saw any income from Al. In fact I do believe he owes me 20.00 I lent him on the night of his Country Club Appearance.

Take Care.

I just read the FAQ on AL and really cannot understand why he did leave out the Placebo/TK stuff- and moved right to the Scotti Bros. Those early days everyone was struggling....trying to earn a buck or two.

Well- I have given my two cents.

I'll admit after the warnings I did not read the interview.

Thank you, Mr. Chemel, for taking the time to be here and for everything you did do for Al's career. (I enjoyed seeing the clip of his appearance on Tom Snyder's Tomorrow Show!)

And thanks for reminding me -- I loaned a guy at work $20 a couple of weeks ago and he hasn't paid me back - hehe :)

It's in this message thread one or two pages back (if your messages are set up like mine). The date of the post that contains it is March 4, 2005 (sorry, I don't know how to link to the message). It's in a large white box. You have to highlight the box to read what it says, but maybe you want to read the responses first before deciding to read it :)
