And the Compulsive (or is it REpulsive?) Poetess strikes again! I just can't help it; Al inspires me!

Ode to Al 6

As I look back on two decades of loving this guy
Who brings a grin to my face and a smile to my eye
I only hope he continues to make us all laugh
Even if he has to cut his tour schedule in half.
I just want him to be happy, like the happiness he’s brought me
He’s the funniest rock star there ever could be.

Some people think accordions are the work of the devil,
But they helped Al take comedy rock to a whole new level!
He's been awarded three Grammys and still has his feet on the ground
Without doubt the most important artist Doctor D. ever found…
”Weird Al” Yankovic!!
Can I get an Amen?
AMEN!!

Praise AL!!

Thought I would take a stab at this ....

The Weird One
(A Poetic Parody of “The Raven”)
(uh, yeah, the short, abridged version)

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I listened, laughing clearly
Over many a joke and curious volumes of accordion sound,
While I nodded, nearly clapping, suddenly there came a tapping
As of someone gently rapping, rapping on my head so round
“’Tis some bother,” I muttered, “tapping on my head so round.”
Turning around, this is what I found.

Ah, my fiancé with a stern frown, curious as to why I was getting down
The hour was late, with darkened shadows upon the floor
Eagerly I wished the morrow; vainly I wanted more CD’s to borrow
More CD’s to borrow to decrease the sorrow, sorrow cause tonight there is no more
She turned off the speakers and motioned to the bedroom and quietly said nevermore
I proclaimed the Weird One forevermore.

And the Weird One, always curly, still does polka, still does polka
On the black receiver just outside my chamber door;
I will listen to him again come the morn, but now it’s late and I have sworn
To give him a rest this midnight dreary, cause my fiancé, she is weary
But in my head as I am dreaming, I can hear the voices screaming
And proclaiming the Weird One forevermore.

I love it! :D
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?" - 7/12/11

So awesome!

Thanks, YDU. :)

It's been a long time since I actually studied it, but I love to read it every once in a while. It's one of Poe's finest.

Ak, that totally polka'd!

I'm a professional poet (betcha didn't know that was even a real job any more!), and Poe's one of my biggest influences. As a teen, I memorized it and used to recite it for fun. Anytime you want to take a shot at "The Bells" or "Annabel Lee," I say go for it, as long as our Al remains the subject so you can post it here!

I especially love "still does polka."

WAY cool!

Thanks, Karen. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll have to see if I can find the two poems you referenced.
