While searching around on Hits, I found a preview of the album. Nothing of that much interest, except for a comment that trumps any preview/review of an ALbum I've ever seen:
Al's longtime band kicks serious @$$
At last, someone else besides the true believers gets it.

I just got the new issue of Rolling Stone in the mail, and I'm happy to report that Poodle Hat is still in the top 40 (he's at number 35, and the incomparable Celine Dion is at number 40). And, while it may seem like a big slip from the 17th position, RS claims that last week, Al held the 34th spot, so he's holding on quite well.
Just checked out Hits, and it looks like Poodle Hat is trying to claw it's way back up the charts! The Hits charts are only halfway done at this point, but so far, Poodle Hat's getting the predicted Al TV boost. Go Al!
If you don't understand what I mean by the charts being only halfway done, by the way, think of it as an election. "With only 50% of the precincts reporting...". That should help.
Update: The final Hits numbers are in, and unfortunatly, Al's efforts to get back to the top 50 fell through. But from the numbers he had earlier today, it's more than likely safe to assume Poodle Hat has another 18,000-23,000 copies under it's belt.

Not only is Poodle Hat back in the top 50, it's the biggest jumper on this week's chart, going from 62 to 47!!!
Congratulations, Al!
By the way, it's interesting to note that it's not on the internet sales top 25 chart, which means most of this week's sales were at stores. That certainly puts the Al TV and tour impact in perspective.
