98% of the time Craig does not interview his musical guests. And I don't
think that Weird Al not being Craig's "cup of tea" is going to change anyone
else's opinion on him. But sorry that you were disappointed in his choice
of words.

If Al wasn't miffed by the comment, then I suppose we should be able to let it slide. Of course, I didn't like Craig Kilborn to begin with, so this certainly didn't help my opinion of him.
I'm guessing he wasn't miffed. He seems like a pretty un-miff-able guy. But even if he was, how would we know? Because Al is a class act and a professional.

Metallica is not my cup of tea, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't want to have them on this show, because I acknowledge what they've done for their music and respect their fan base. Weird Al (who is really nice, I met him while he was here) doesn't take himself nearly as seriously as you take him.
Open mouth, insert other foot. Notice the deep respect shown here for Weird Al's fan base.
Yes, Al is nice and no he doesn't take himself too seriously, but he does take his work seriously. Just because Al chose not to indulge in a fit of huff doesn't mean he didn't notice the open disrespect in "not my cup of tea" or the implicit disrespect in the "is it funny?" question-- Kilborn didn't even bother listening to the song before having Al and TBITB perform on his show.
Of course we take Al seriously. It's what fans do, besides paying for the broccoli and poodle chow.

I wish I could remember the source here, maybe OE can help me out, there was an interview where Al talked about how he's always felt like he was on the outside looking in. He isn't taken seriously as a musician because of the comedy, and he's not generally categorized as a comedian because of the music.

Thanks to someone on the ng, I was able to watch Al and the guys' performance of "Couch Potato".
They did GREAT! I loved Al in the Eminem gear! I was spared Craig's comments, because this was just the performance. I agree that he was rude. *From what I've read* That's just not right, saying that kind of thing aloud just before a guest performs on your show. Some people in the ng are defending Kilborn. I don't agree with that at all! He was rude, and should apologize. And all these email responses are lame. The people really think we're making a big deal out of it. Well, when someone is insulted on a national tv show, it tends not to sit too well with fans. Maybe these people are afraid they'l lose their jobs if they side with Al here. Who knows? At least we got to see Al and TBITB on stage. Perhaps if they are on tv again, it will be under better circumstances. Let's hope so!

Kilborn's an @$$. I didn't like him or watch his show before, I like him even less now. It's not so much that it was Al he was so rude to, it's the fact that he would say something like that about one of his guests. Yeah, it's good for the artists to go on the show and hype their new stuff, but Kilborn acts like he's doing them some huge favor. You can't have a talk show without guests.

Ok, I may get flack for this, but here goes: I wayched the comment again, and while I still dont agree with it, he did say "he's not neccesarily my cup of tea, but thats ok" It takes a litte of the edge off the comment. Like I said, I dont agree, but ithelps. A little.
